for the sales success
I m mixed

the pre-orders are still low.
The sales will depend on how people react to the review

As I have said before, AW is a new IP and like Bioshock at his time, it will need very high praising review to make people think : "this is a must have experience, I buy it"

Also, AW is not a FPS, it is a shooter with a not so badass hero ... It is good for me, but is it good for the average Xbox360 owners ?

Because 360 owners will only buy a fps with a muscle bound baddass hero.

We really need a roll-eyes gif on this forum.

OKI, you are only the one that seems to have problem with my post

let's put it in another way specially for you

AW is basically a survival horror (= niche game) that may have problem to sell well

But did Heavy Rain have problems to sell well in your opinion?

- Heavy Rain was massively advertized

- Heavy Rain was SINCE THE START advertized as a special game with a special experience, neither good or bad, just very different.
The review said the same, everyone was happy, it got quite good sales for a new IP

- AW was hyped since it became 360 exclusive as the best gfx ever AND as a survival horror that is so different/good/special that it can't be called/compared to a survival horror.
The review said it was not the best gfx on console AND it is not that different than a survival horror shooter

(from what I got, you take RE4, put Twin Peaks setting + great story = AW = a very good ... survival horror game)

- Heavy Rain pre-orders were superior compared to AW pre-order (I m betting/guessing from my memmory) AND PS3 install base is 2 fold inferior in NA !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I dont know how will sell AW but judging on the pre-order AND considering the 360 base is heavly targetted on badass shooter WITH MULTIPLAYER , I m not sure this game will match Heavy Rain sales (I still dont think it will bomb...)

HEAVY RAIN wasn't marketed that way in the US.

well, in France, it gots a respectable coverage ....

some "cinema guy" were praising it

Then say that without the thinly veiled dig at 360 owners.

I don't think he would bother posting if he couldn't do that

lol

I say what I want : it is a nich game that will be released on 360 that is primarly a NA console

AW : survival action horror with no online

==> shooter : pan pan : GOOD for NA
==> survival : NOT badass hero : BAD for NA
==> horror : NOT badass hero : BAD for NA
==> no online : no pan pan with your friend online : BAD for NA

Since Xbox360 mainland (and sales) are in NA, you can see the little problem here

In the other hand, Halo REACH is a futur BEAST !

My mistake. it wasn't a thinly veiled attack on 360 owners but but a thinly veiled attack on Yanks.
I can live with that.

Please show me apart from Selnor who touted AW as best graphics ever?

In the UK Heavy rain was heavily advertised.

no, not really, just didn't post before cause I was not interested in discussion on other topics. Decided to get involved in this topic cause I'm kind of interested how an IP  that doesn't contain 'steroid heroes' will do on XBOX 360. And I really hope it will do very good, judging by the reception I guess it deserves at least 1+ mil.

It was lack of variety of exclusives (an not the ones that I could buy also on PC) that made me sell my X360. AW seems like an interesting change, guess too late for me but I do hope that 360 owners will appreciate some new fresh and more innovative IP on their system.

Then why couldn't you voice you "opinion" like that in the first place without the pointless digs.

Like this, an opinion I respect and take on board.
Your very first post, troll like in essence.

Got to love theose steroid heroes in Forza.

Forza is not exactly such a new IP is it ?

Sorry for my previous rant, as i said, guess I had to get it out of my system. Believe it or not, I've experienced quite a few 'examples' of some XBOX Live 'mature' users. Guess it was just my bad luck with the service and having to pay for it just tipped the scales for me.

Xbox Live? When did that enter the discussion? AW doesn't have online.
Also when did you say new IP's?
Got to love those steriod heroes in Blue Dragon

no need to roll eyes, simple 'nod' gif would suffice. Why ? Cause while 360 owners won't ONLY buy games with a muscle badass hero but they will strongly support games like that. A lot more than other IP's.

On this website I found:

Mass Effect - 2,2 m (very good game, very good story for a vg, 'critical' success, but your character can even be a girl ... ewww and no multi to teabag people or call them fags)

Gears of War - 6 m (average game at most but also very good critical reception despite of no story at all, horrible single player, not sure about teabagging but at least you play through the game as steroid packed moose that runs forward, hides behind something, shoots a bit, runs forward again etc. all that alongside other steroid packed mooses, yeeeah nobody could have any doubts about my sexual orientation after playing a game like that)

And don't even make me start on the whole Call of Duty pile of BS.

Probably you won't agree, just had to get it out of my system.

Wow, that's a completely ignorant statement. You've generalized the entire 360 audience by cherrypicking facts and giving biased and ignorant opinions about  games you've(from reading your post) probably never played.

I own a 360 and a PS3, and I love the massive amount of hit games on both consoles.

I'd wager that despite huge success in the shooter genre, the 360 has much more diversity in its software sold, considering I'd assume that it has simply sold a shit-ton more software. The large exclusives are probably less than 3 percent of the overall game pool, and you are acting as if mulitplats don't exist, and that games like Assassin's Creed, Forza, and Fable don't sell well on the 360 which is wrong. American's like shooters, yes, but to say the 360 is a "shooter box" is bringing up  an ignorant argument that wasn't even right when it died 4 years ago.

I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.

NO NO, NO NO NO.

- But it is not an ATTACK against anyone. Put this point in your head. It is a statement that you may like or not. That you may agree or not.
Not an attack. Go see AW pre-orders and compare them to the hype round the game.

- There has always been plenty of people supporting or defending selnor here. Hopping secretely he would be right and that they will have the biggest dick ... oups .... biggest game ever : best gfx, best review, GOTY.

for example, AW has been LARGELY more hyped than SC conviction despite being a new IP.
AW was basically Jesus.

(The only thing I can add is that, on french forum, I have seen a overpraising thread about AW and how he will dominate everything ... but I m not used to read these forum, I m not even registered)

I was serious about the attack on 360 owners. It's what you do but joking about the attack on Yanks.
You only insult british solders the day they die.

Show where AW has been hyped to be Jebus?
You keep coming out with crap like that but can't show anything to back it up. I should go into any Sony exclusive thread like KZ2 and see you pissed off at them over hyping. Oh but you wont be.
You won't come out with baseless claims like people hyping KZ2 to be Jebus.
wonder why?

People have been been more excited for AW then SC but that doesn't mean it's been hyped to the high heavens. Nice strawman logic there.

anyway these attacks do get your point across. You do have the bounciest breast out of everyone as you like 360 owners who you claim are defending Selnor are only doing it to show they have the most desirable body part.

Hey i can make crap up about other posters like you

It doesn't have online and maybe that's even better for the game, there's too much titles that had their single player experience dumbed down by pushing too much dev time and budget to the mutli.

'new...IP' part highlighted in red for you.

Blue Dragon example only proves the point, titles that have more demanding and complicated gameplay don't sell on 360 as well as GeOW/COD/HALO type of simple gaming experience, which won't help Alan Wake in reaching it's commercial success.

I finished both games back in the days when I still owned 360. To me GeOW was like a bad movie with good special effects, visuals keep you entertained as long as you watch it but when you walk out of the cinema, you realise how bad it was and in the end regret the time and money you've spent on it.

There's quite a lot of multiplats that are not 'core shooters' and sell better on PS3 (RE5, FFXIII or even AC). Show me at least one game (exclusive or multiplat) that sold more than GeOW on 360 and is not a shooter.

Gears of War 3 is already a success and it's just been announced (relatively) recently...For example.

Yes you did. i missed that.

You can say the same for the PS3. How many games sell as wel as CoD on that machine? Go sling the mud at everyone it applies to.

But again what does idiots online have to do with what we were talking about? And what is commercial success? If you say it has to sell at Cod/Halo/GoW levels then you are deliberately setting it up to fail. I would say being a million seller.

Got to love those steriod heroes in God of War.

Oops wrong machine
