Let me put this anouther way, the highest rated game by meta that is not a mario, fit, play or sport title is Zelda, twilight princes. Units sold to 70+ million wii owners 5.52 million. This is the second highest rated game on the wii... The second highest exclusive on the PS3 is little big planet, 3.36 million units to 30+ million users. PS3 games sell for more. There is a greater return for devs on the PS360 if they want to create new games, not exercise videos.

So? The 2nd highest rated PS2 game is a tie between RE4 (3.21m) and MGS4 (5.58m) to ~140m users.  I guess Wii's a better bet for developers than PS2 ever was going by that logic?

Also, greatest return?  Maybe we should compare notes on how many HD focused devs versus how many Wii focused devs have gone through layoffs, sold themselves off or just shut their doors entirely? ;)

You know as well as me that comparing sales from deferent gens holds no water, ...that’s MGS2-sons of liberty and he intimated it was bull that devs were leaving the wii and why would they? I said for the cash. If you mean devs as in creators of say game party 2 staying in business, what ever...

There is only one dev making a lot of money out of making GAMES for the Wii and that is Nintendo, this is all I have been saying. Those who disagree have hardly proved their point.

Developers aren't leaving Wii, at least not as their focus... to leave something you already have to have already shown up. ;)

And several developers and publishers would likely disagree with your last statement.  Capcom notably, who sold more Wii games last year than 360 or PS3 games.  Or Hudson, who now earns nearly as much profit as their parent company (Konami) off the back of mainly Wii games.  Or Sega, who's top 5 games last year were all Wii titles.  Or EA, who credited their Wii exclusives and motion plus games last summer as helping hold the company up.  I could keep going...

Obviously no one makes as much as Nintendo does off Wii... but guess what?  If Nintendo's returns are the standard you're going by, no one makes as much off PS3 and 360 either.

"That, say analysts, may be premature. Last Christmas, almost twice as many Wii consoles were sold in the US as the PlayStation3. But games developers increasingly see Sony’s machine as having a large enough base of users to justify not making titles for the Nintendo machine."

This paragraph made perhaps the least amount of sense to me. Which is why I'm going to highlight it: So basically a console that has more than double the installed base of the other, sells more than double the software of the other is somehow not justified to have resources allocated exclusively towards it. But the console who sells the least and has the smallest installed base is?

A lot of this 'article' seems to just be a bunch of bologna.

It doesn't have to make sense if it's true. The PS3 and 360 are getting the third party dev support and the Wii is getting shat upon. Of course it's only happening because over the years the market has become divided as traditional or hardcore gamers went the the HD systems to follow all the third party games that were coming out for them while the Wii was being shat upon.

What this article really fails to mention (as an unfortunate incident of timing) was that Wii Party is going to be another evergreen 10 or 15 million plus seller.  Nintendo's pretty smart sometimes.

I'll give you that. But still, Wii was never really given a proper shot any way. And the thirds shitting on the Wii and calling it steak hurts them, not Nintendo. The thing of it all is that Nintendo is solely responsible for all of the Wii's success. So it seems this guy writing this thing is under the impression that thirds actually leaving Wii is going to have some sort of major impact. The major impact of thirds would be felt if they were to leave the 360 or PS3 as their success is directly tied to them.

I'm not sure I'd concede traditional gamers went to the HD market as manyof the Wii's audience is made up of lasped gamers. I guess it depends on what we are using as the term traditional gamers (I dont use the word hardcore lol) Is it those from the PS1/PS2 era? or those from the NES/SNES era?

We'll see what Wii party does...but I'm not sold on it..maybe because I've seen nothing but two screens of it haha.

Except the poor reception by third parties really has had an effect on Wii sales. A lot of people that bought a PS3 or 360 might have bought a Wii if they'd been able to play all of the great third party games that have come out recently. There are lots of third parties making lots of great games. Wouldn't it be nice if when deciding what console to buy, you could look at the Wii and still be able to play Fallout, Resident Evil 5, Street Figher 3, Modern Warfare (on time), Battlefield,  Final Fantasy, Assassin's Creed, bioshock, Deadspace (real), Batman, Grand Theft Auto, Borderlands, NFS Shift or any of the other cool games that skipped the Wii altogether?

The Wii's pheonomal sales are in spite of an industry that shunned it at all costs. Imagine if it had those dev's all along. Because just as you say, the othe consoles are dependent on those third parties.

I'm a mod, come to me if there's mod'n to do.

Serves me right for challenging his sales predictions!
