What is "PR"?

Proportional representation.

Those people advocating PR should specify the system they're talking about though: Alternative Vote, Additional Member, Single Transferable Vote etc. Then it can be argued against effectively. Not specifying the system means we can't discuss its weaknesses as well as its percieved fairness.

i wonder who will battle it out for the labour leadership

and whether brown resigns from his constituency, will he want to be a back bencher

I would guess that Harriet Harmon, Ed Balls, Ed Milliband and David Milliband would all be in the fray.

why do labour keep saying more people voted for lab/lib

in 1997/2005 didn't more people vote for con/lib i wonder if they did

if so,it didn't seem to bother them then

You have to understand that New labour is the first government to be in power where it has a government FULL of career politicians.

Their career is politics, they will dance to whatever tune they have to to keep their jobs...  after all.. what else can they do?

one way you can start to tackle that would be fixed terms for MP's and PM's

so, they couldnt stand for more than say 3 elections. (as an example suggestion)

im not sure how you stop people from going through their career only in politics, but i am willing to listen to your ideas on the subject?

I'm not sure you can.... but I am highly suspicious of someone who WANTS to go straight to politics from studying.

its what they are interested in and want to do?

I mean, just for the sake of argument (I dont particularly have strong feelings on this issue), why shouldnt they? and what makes it suspicous?

Politics is pretty much about telling people how they should live their lives, how they should spend their money and how they should run their businesses.

Call me old fashioned but I'd prefer a bit of life experience before someone has the authority to do that.

Most 'compliance' officers in any industry/walk of life will have some, in many cases a great deal, of experience in their field.

okay, then define for me "life experience"

your other point is somewhat contradictary, is not being a career politician having a great deal of experience in ones field?

Single Transferable Vote.

it's already used in local elections and regional assmebly elections in the UK and its used for parliamentary elections in Ireland.

i think you could be right there, with maybe an outsider coming from nowhere,

how the hell ed milliband could be PM,i'll never know but his brother is as slimy a politician as i've ever seen, but i guess you like him being a lefty....

who would you like to lead out of those 4

                                                                                                                                        Above & Beyond

I think David Milliband will probably be the labour leader next. The other people are too unpopular.

to be honest, I don't know enough about them.

I also don't particularly care for the Labour party, but if their new leader takes them to the Left, that might make me more open to them.

if their new leader takes them more to the left then they won't get anywhere in england,in my opinion

on topic, how can clegg do a deal with labour without them having a leader,i can't see it,plus needing more help from other minority parties, once labour start fighting over a leader all hell will break loose, like it normally does when a party is out of power, the left and the center of labour will get ugly and fight tooth and nail with each other, probably
