you're the one creating flames here. I advise you to leave. This discussion has been very civil until you dropped in. Stay away if you don't like it, create your own thread, or whatever.

Yeah its true that some games have "underwhelming" sales on the 360 and most of them are single player games. But with the number of games this year can you really be surprised? Its a cluster of games and gamers don't buy "bad" games period. It seems that every game that doesn't score a 9 or higher is immediately labeled "bad" and it doesn't sell so well. Also most games that sell really good also does that in a month where many consoles are moved, because the console buyers pick up the new hot games.
Console sales have gone down across the board which equals lower game sales.
PS3 is hot now which is why you don't see this as much with PS3 although with the exception of GoW3 its pretty much the same over there (ME2 is actually doing better just not on 360 since its on 2 platforms). Going back 1 year or so people where laughing at exclusive PS3 sales, save for MGS4.

Nothing I said was uncivil, and I will post where I choose.
I explained why I thought the OP was flamebait - using only cherry-picked statistics to make a point. If you can offer some justification for the cherry picking, or explain why it makes your argument legitimate I'd love to hear it, but as it stands I still thinks it was flamebait.

Just above 500K in one region outstanding? I beg to differ. There are over 20 million 360s in USA (and that's not counting the rest of America, and VGC numbers certainly include something else more than just USA, somehow) 500K or even 600K is not outstanding by any means especially when it's about critically acclaimed/hyped/well-advertised games. And it's so funny you say above 500K when the whole list I presented doesn't have ANY game above 500K except Mass Effect 2 and FF13. Conviction will certainly pass 500K. Oh no sir, 500K for a 20 million installed base is a flop in any book when talking about high-budget critically acclaimed games. |
The other games you picked were all cherry picked or niche titles anyways. And 500k is great sales for one region considering the WW sales for those games will be close to a million or more. Any game that can break that mark is a great success.
I don't know about you, but SC:C, Darksiders, Just Cause 2, etc. were never critially acclaimed, super hyped, well-advertised games. They all received just average advertising with the slight exception being SC:C which is on it's way to selling 2 million worldwide anyway.
Also, care to comment on the rest of my post? Such as how it is no different on PS3 or Wii. Games with multiplayer elements sell more because they have a larger fan base and offer more replay value. And just because games are adding MP doesn't mean their single player experiences are suffering in the slightest.

You aren't alone. Both myself and mendicate are thinking the same thing. This guy is always trying to in some way downplay the 360.
This cherry picked list with flawed logic is no different.
Oh and in case you didn't know, gekkokamen, posting "keep it civil" in your OP pretty much screams that you know this is flame bait and just wanted to put that so you can claim innocence if anything does break out. You can say, "oh but look I told them to keep it civil so I can't be responsible."
Army of Two: The 40th Day has multiplayer. Versus and a 'Horde' type called extraction.
I thought Dark Siders sold more, around a million

Even though I don't exactly agree with the OP, I kinda get what his saying. Outside of Fable and Mass Effect, 360 titles don't do well without some sort of online play or local play (even Fable has online co-op). His motives are questionable, but his question's probably more like 'Why do Heavenly Sword, Infamous, Uncharted Drakes: Fortune, Motostorm, MGS4, God of War 3, Final Fantasy XIII and Valkyria Chronicles all sell well without multiplayer?' I personally think that the PS3 is better for single player experiences, while the 360 is best suited for online multiplayer.
Bet with Conegamer and AussieGecko that the PS3 will have more exclusives in 2011 than the Wii or 360... or something.
AvP isnt as bad as its score. if you put up all the reviews for it it would have like a 71
Halo MCC will sell 5+ million copies(including digital)
halo 5 will sell 10 million copies(including digital)
x1 will pass ps4 in USA, and UK.
That argument works if you don't take WRPGs into consideration which actually sell far more on the 360 then the other consoles and are single player focused.
