From my very limited time with the game, I had a very positive impression of the gameplay.

I was thrown in for fifteen minutes into this immense battle sequence with two opposing sides blasting each other.

From that, and that alone I would rate it anywhere between 7.3-8.3, just on the gameplay aspect mind you.

However, I don't wish my vote to count due to that small impression. Plus,  I want to give MGS4 a fair assessment one of these days.

Akibafan, I wanted to go ahead and thank you for making these "Showdown" threads between the "Big" game franchises. I love reading gamer reaction, because it's often insightful (most of the time), and the culminating thread at the end of FF was boss.

Keep creating threads like this! I can just imagine that Resident Evil, Silent Hill, Grand Theft Auto, Dragon Warrior, or Mario is just around the corner.

Don't you mean MGS4 is epic? Legendary would mean the end all, be all, which is where everything came from, which will be spoken about for years to come. :) MGS4 will easily be forgotten after Peace Walker. MGS1 made Snake a legend, MGS3 made Big Boss a legend, but MGS4 was just epic in proportions because it was wartime. Does that help?

I said legendary because as a big MGS fan, when I look back in the future, I'll always remember MGS4 on the PS3. Just like how I still remember the days I used to play MSG1, I'll remember MGS4 as well as the others because they were just my favourite games. And I do get the feeling that MGS Peace Walker would be in the same league as well!

unbias opinion at its finest. MGS4 was the first exclusive AAA game on the PS3, it won't ever be forgotten.

10/10 - for me the best game ever, with some of the deepest, most profound moments in any storytelling medium.

How was MGS4's gameplay improved over 3? I would love to know because so much was taken out in 4.

-"Guns of the Patriots"
-Olga was Sunny's mother
-Raiden (as a cyborg!) vs. Vamp (still alive!)
-The Beauty & the Beasts
-Big Mama/Eva
-Meryl's return
-Everything except the Gear on Gear battle

I was never surprised by anything in MGS4. Plus somebody thought it would be funny to post even more spoilers on my wall, ruining my most anticipated game of this gen. All I had to lean on were gameplay and graphics. The gameplay was good but not great. The graphics didn't blow me away. Little things I loved like easter eggs and Codec conversations were almost non-existent. And then, there was the loading and the installs.
