Forums - Nintendo - Gameboy Micro you didn't know about

The Micro is the greatest Game Boy in the world for GBA games. If you need GB/GBC/GBA games you need a GBA-SP Mark 2 (the later one with the superior backlight). But if you only want to play a GBA game, anything other than the Micro is madness. The screen is even better than the first DS. This thing came out AFTER the first DS. The screen is gorgeous.

I have the kickass anniversary edition that looks like the original Famicom controller. I LOVE THE MICRO.

Awesome commercial too.

Systems needed to play (as far as I know, having never owned any I am no expert) all Gameboy/DS games:

Game Boy Colour (plays GB + GBC)

DSlite (Plays DS + GBA)

If the 3DS is able to play the DSi library then that is the next one needed.... if not then it doesn't quite work anymore, damn downloadable games.

A Gameboy Advance SP and any DS model will do the same.

I thought the GBA models didn't play original GB games.

Oh wait, they were the same size carts weren't they.

Which means... as long as 3DS can play DSi games (I think it's a given it will play normal DS games) you will only need to buy a GBA (original or SP) and a 3DS.

I'm playing Link's Awakening on my SP, in point of fact!

The Micro won't do it though, for some reason.

I just lol'd in work. Literally, too

i used to see this thing in shops, and I used to think it was a bizarre concept. I never knew why nintendo bothered to make it.

A DS Lite with a flash card is the ultimate Nintendo handheld line device. Native DS and GBA support. And you can get emulated GB and GBC support from flash card firmware. Unfortunately the DS Lite is not exactly that portable. If I am wearing a jacket or I have a bag with me, I can take it with me. But if it's spring/summer and all I have are my shirt and jean pockets, it can't fit.

Ah man, I loved my micro.  I played through so many great games on it.  The portability was just so awesome and the screen, I perferred it to lugging around my DS original back in the day. Plus it was a steal at only 10 bucks at gamestop.

I love my Micro for GBA games. It is the unit I take on business trips.

Now I wonder if that commercial played in the US (where it would be a Center).

I like to jump around, and would lead a fairly serene and aimless existence if it weren't for my friends always getting into trouble. I love to help out, even when it puts me at risk. I seem to make friends with people who just can't stay out of trouble.

Looks like an old school Sega commercial...
