Forums - Sony - my review of HEAVY RAIN

HEAVY RAIN is without a doubt the most interesting and unique gameplay i have gotten from a game this year or in matter of fact for a quite awhile. i was suprised how just much fun and addicitive a game with button presses could be , and i am so glad i listen to a good friend in CGI-QUALITY to get this game. i had thought darksiders was my sleeper or suprise hit of the year so far, but that honor now goes to this game. now onto my review/impression of heavy rain.

GRAPHICS : the detail up close of the characters was very good and the graphics in the cutscenes were also very well done, the lips didnt always match the voice. but i can overlook that small detail. the back grounds werent as always as detailed or close to that level in some of the chapters. graphics of certain articles of clothing and certain items in rooms were alittle off.  overall the graphics were nicely done, just thought they could of used alittle more polish.

GAMEPLAY : this is for me where the game truly shines, the qte events were more addicitive then i ever thought possible. the qte events like the driving through traffic was very cool and how u passed the trials was also very exciting and at some points got my blood going, couldnt put down the game. the only fault i could find with the controls were the camera, at times it placed me at weird positions, but that is the only real complaint i can find with the gameplay.

CHARACTERS AND STORY : the story in the game, was very nicely done. just how far u would go to find your son/child and the determanation that ethan the father showed during the game after his youngest son shaun was kipnapped, was very exciting to go through with him. the trials that the orgami killer made ethan go through, some of them does really make u think how far u are willing to go and how much u truly love your child. the ending i got i really liked, wont tell since i dont wana spoil anything for anyone. the other characters norman and his addiciton problem and how he reacted to the a$$hole cop he was partenered with and what u could make him due through the decisions u made was nice. madison was a cool character , like her determanation and how she treated that guy in his private room  in the dance club and how she got the info out of him , ouch that would certainly hurt i must say. scott, now that character was interesting and how he approached the robbery and the house of that rich family after what happened to him and lauren was a nice touch, what the story revealed about him at the end and close to it. got me by surprised, i didnt see that coming cause i thought ( u know who, was someone else ). lauren was a ok character, wasnt too impressed with her at all.

REPLAY VALUE : i got 80% of the trophies during my 1st playthrough, not certain if i will try for the 5 remaining trophies i need for platinum yet or not. their is some replay value, if u dont try to get some of the mulitiple trophies during your 1st playthrough. also if u get the dlc then u get some extra play time, but overall their isnt much at all i think.

MY REVIEW SCORES OF THE GAME :

GRAPHICS : 9.2/10

GAMEPLAY : 10/10

CHARACTERS : 10/10

STORY : 10/10

REPLAY VALUE : 8/10

OVERALL SCORE IS : 47.2/50 = 94.4%

i highly recommend anyone who hasnt gotten this game , too pls give this very interesting and unique game a try, believe me u will not forget it for a second.  also thanks to anyone who reads my review/impression of the game.  /bow

So you say there's not much replay value and then you give it an 8?

The rest of the review, sure, that part is a little iffy since the game is already on the short side.

@twesterm, the reason i gave the replay , even though it was short for me a 8. is because some ppl who play the game wouldnt go and get all the trophies i did during the 1st playthrough, so then by playing those chapters or starting a new game, then the replay value for those ppl would be higher , than it was for me.

Actually, I thought 8 was high.

+ Multiple endings

- The game is short and below what is normally acceptable for a single play game.

- It's a muder mystery so you don't have the whodunnit thing the second play through.

- When they reveal the killer, they show you all the parts you normally would look for in the second playthough.

- The first few hours are pretty painfully dull minus a few good parts.

So it may have multiple endings which is night and would be cause for riot if it didn't with the dull beginning and how they reveal the killer, the game does a pretty good job of discouraging you to play again.

Are bullet points and numbered lists not working for anyone else?
