Forums - Microsoft - Official Alan Wake Review Thread (Metacritic)

The Kotaku review was definitely a very good one. But, I don't think they awarded it a numerical score, though the words would make one think it should count more than a 9.

The reviewer did an excellent job evoking how scary this game can be when playing it in the right circumstances.

I think Red Dead Redemption is going to have a tough time topping Alan Wake for mature game of the month.

I don't know , you did not see great games like Gears of War, Halo, U2, GOW3, getting a lot of scores in the 70s, It makes me wonder if its worth me buying.

Yeah, I guess having 2 scores in the 70's is a real deal breaker.

You're a freaking genius.

Halo 3 had 2 scores in the 70's, and hell, even Mass Effect 2 (the greatest rpg of this generation) got a 75.

That wasn't even a good attempt at trolling.

And that's the only thing I need is *this*. I don't need this or this. Just this PS4... And this gaming PC. - The PS4 and the Gaming PC and that's all I need... Meta is at 84, that's not a bad score guys. Seriously, I'm still pumped for this game, can't wait till it drops. I love survival horror games, this is going to put RE 5 to shame.

It is more like action-orientated psychological thriller, not survival horror.

Not really Brian Crecente is an xbox fanboy douchebag you could hear him fapping throughout the whole review.

Not likely to go down with new reviews coming on stream, could go up by 1 or 2 points. Looks like it's settled in to mid 80s as a final result. If reviews have any effect on sales this should be high enough to encourage people to buy it.

It's not survival horror really. But then RE5 is probably stretching that definition to the limits as well. Both are more in the action/horror sub-genre.

To all those complaining about the "disappointing" score, look at it this way: the game currently stands as the highest rated survival horror game this gen (afaik). If you want a good horror game, Alan Wake is the game to get.
