The Greatest fantasy adventure game of all time may see a new installment soon if Activision will allow Phoenix Online to finish their King's Quest sequel The Silver Lining.
The King's Quest games were my favorite games when I was growing up. I played the first one on an IBM PC Jr, and always enjoyed the embroidering that Roberta Williams did in her fashioning of the classic stories from fairy tales and mythology into her own tales of the Kingdom of Daventry and the family of King Graham.
The Silver Lining by Phoenix Online, a fan project in the making for ten years and often maligned with cease and desist orders from the companies that held the actual rights to the King's Quest series (Vivendi Universal and Activision that seemingly had no interest in making new King's Quest games) may now be on the verge of being given permission to be finished by Activision according to a recent Kotaku article.

I am very much hoping that Phoenix Online will be allowed to finish their game. And in this age when adventure games like Phoenix Wright on Nintendo DS and Wii, the Strong Bad Cool Games for Attractive People on Wii, the Monkey Island games on Wii and 360 are enjoying a rebirth in popularity, perhaps Activision would even be willing to accept Phoenix's Silver Lining as an actual King's Quest game and even bring it to such services as Wii Ware and XBLA! :)
