Forums - Nintendo - Have the Wii's graphic limits caused it to have more "evergreen" titles?

^many of those games are on HD console, they are not only superior in graphics, have more gameplay options and online multiplayer.

you are limiting yourself if you think it's just "graphics".

Wii games have more gameplay options.

Ex: Mario Kart Wii (Wiimote+WiiWheel - Wiimote - Wiimote+Nunchuck - Classic Controller - GameCube Controller)

Resident Evil 4 Wii Edition (Wiimote+Nunchuk - Classic Controller)

Ex: Metroid Prime 3 Corruption, Resident Evil 4 Wii Edition, Silent Hill Shatterd Memories have a pointer that makes a great gameplay. (to me, has better gameplay than the traditional pad)

Ex: Metroid Other M (you can change from third person view to first person view at any time)

Ex: Zelda Wii, Red Steel 2 (Wii Motion Plus)

Ex: New Super Mario Bros Wii (hold the same Wiimote sideways and play like the NES era)

And, I have played Mario Kart Wii online and I never see lag.

Interesting concept.
And part of the same thread and theme that has made the Wii something completely different in terms of consoles.
In other words, it has gone for those who want fun over polygon count.
Please note that I am not saying the two are mutually exclusive. But often, there are those who examine games only on the latter and not on the former. Meanwhile, Will buyers base their decisions almost entirely on the former -- causing the review-sales disconnect.

I like to jump around, and would lead a fairly serene and aimless existence if it weren't for my friends always getting into trouble. I love to help out, even when it puts me at risk. I seem to make friends with people who just can't stay out of trouble.

Also put the fact that HD consoles have worse controls than wii

congrats on their success, but seriously if that success would bring us more good games.

not progressing though, it's not what i think any gamer would happen, nintendo it's focusing on their profits.

and it's this competition of "graphics" or games, that make games get better, so far this gen games like uncharted 2, god of war 3, gears, that not only have great graphics, but are also fun to play and have engaging story.
@montono, let's face it, humanity it's easily gullible.

You just named 3 of the HD games I would not buy if I had the system, i'll agree uncharted and sequel are beautiful though.

the last guardian /instantwin.

EDIT: god of war 3 it's beautiful.

If I hadn't already been a Nintendo fan I wouldn't have even known about the Last Guardian... but having played Zeldas, then yes if I had a PS3 I would be buying The Last Guardian.

And I don't like the look of neither God, nor Gears of War, and I certainly wouldn't describe them as beautiful.

I don't agree that gears is "beatiful" but it has a very nice and dirty art style... but god of war is BEAUTIFUL, if you could only play it for an hour you would agree, it's just jaw dropping beuty all over. Same with Uncharted 2

He was probably commenting on its design and that he didn't think the games were 'beautiful' based on the style they had.  Truly, the games are a feast for the eyes.  But there's always going to be some games people like more based on the art style and game design and others you aren't going to be interested in because of the same thing.

Case in point, I still think some of the best looking games ever made are such as Dragon Quest VIII (PS2), Odin Sphere (PS2) and Resident Evil 4 (GC).  Now, have the games that came out this gen surpassed them in graphical ability?  No question.  They've blown them out of the water.  But its their combination of art design and game design that really stood out.  I'd still venture to say those games stand out to me more than something like Uncharted 2 or Gears of War, simply because they have a more unique game design.

Six upcoming games you should look into:

that is true, but how would one know what they like best if they haven't had a taste of the rest?

It's impressive yes. Beauty however is not something you can tell me I am experiencing, and I just don't like how it looks. I also don't think Resident Evil 4 looks good, nor did it when it came out. (though I enjoy playing it, wheras I am almost certain I would have sold GoWIII as soon as I finished it, just as I did with Madworld.... I think the only reason I still keep No More Heroes is because it is hilarious, and Travis is such an awesome chraracter, along with the boss characters.

Windwaker is still the best looking game I have played, followed by Okami... the only games I think could rival them (that I can  think of) that I haven't played are Muramasa, and perhaps Fragile... though I am not so keen on the design of the character you play in Fragile. Prince of Persia is still the top dog in terms of PS360 games I like the look of (don't think I would buy PoP though)

Wii users like the gameplay over the graphics. Of course I like the great graphics for Twilight Princess, Metroid Prime 3 and Super Mario Galaxy, but I liked more the gigantic world for TP, the brilliant first-person gameplay for MP3 and the beautifil desing for SMG.

A prefer to see more exquisite desings like Muramasa or Okami than graphics that become old thanks to the time.

^that doens't mean they should stop getting better.

and both hd console have motion controls, what left for nintendo?.

and motion control don't work for all games.

I don't think people who buy "evergreen" titles later on care for graphics in the first place.

Make a fun, unique, assessable game with PSP level graphics and it'll sell as an evergreen title on any system.

Are you trying to turn this topic into another Wii-Debate topic? Because we already have plenty of those.
