It beat out the previous title holder, the PSP, which sold 185k in its launch week. The fact that the DS has done this years after its launch, with no price cut or major game release is pretty incredible.

For reference, this means that .3 percent of the entire UK population bought a DS just last week.  

Wow. Last week really was crazy for the DS. It might have sold a million last week alone (!)

Nicole Kidman is much loved. Now why doesn't NOA have her doing adverts?

Here in the UK they are just selling like mad. Those Nicole Kidman adverts are doing the trick. Im noticing alot of older people buying the DS with Braintraining for themselves.

 Celebrities are generally more willing to do adverts outside the US. They make as much or more money and it doesn't affect their "image" if they don't air in the US. Not sure if this is the case for Kidman but it is for many.

i've seen her in comercials in america, just not that many. I think nintendo is doing more wii advertising as the ds already has it's market

 I hadn't heard that before. If that's the case it is a shame. The DS sold more than any other console for a one week period THREE YEARS after the launch? For comparison, if the DS sells the same amount for three more weeks it will have outsold the PS3 LTD in the UK with just one months worth of sales! If the DS hasn't peaked yet then the Wii hasn't even started. And these sales are without a Black Friday, before peak Christmas shopping has started... fascinating.

Maybe a portion of it is trarnsferred from Wii? Since Wii is in short supply, the most logical next thing to buy might be a DS?
