Forums - PC - Help me become a PC gaming nerd

Well the title says it all. I recently bought a "newer gaming" PC of some guy from Craigslist. Its hooked up and works great, a hell of a lot better than my old PC, but i dont know what games i should (or can) play on it. I dont want to support or even put up with some of the more rigid DRM systems such the 3 install limit. Heres what i got (as far as i can tell):

-AMD Athlon 64 Processor 3200+

-2.01Ghz, 1GB RAM

-Radeon x300/x550 graphics card

I think thats my hardware, but if it sounds wrong just let me know. Ive always been interested in the MAss Effect games, but apparently ME1 has some nasty DRM, so thats out of the question. Bioshock, Dragon Age, and WarHammer all look like somthing id like.

So, any recommendations?

Hmm, well to see your full specs, go to run in the start menu, and type dxdiag

Then take screenshots of the System and Display tabs, that should give us an indication to the exact specs of your computer.

Also, a good website to check what games you can run is

www.systemrequirementslab.com

Then click on Can you run it, and select a game from the dropdown.

get into an mmo they are the best

the videocard is going to limit you quite a bit. The processor will to as its not dual/quad As well as the ram being 1gb

I doubt, you can run any of the new games satisfactorily. Such As ME, ME2, Crysis, Stalker. You can run Half Life 2 and those type of games based on the source engine by valve though. Also old Blizzard Games.

I didn't really even notice Mass Effect 1's DRM to be honest.

Dear God, that was never a gaming PC.

How much did you pay for that if you dont mind me asking. Its not going to run alot to be honest. Maybe the 1st fear game and others of its time. But i think its a far fetched thought of running MassEffect at any playable frame rates.

That processor is old. Like 4-5 years old, perhaps older.

Demon's Souls Official Thread  | Currently playing: Left 4 Dead 2, LittleBigPlanet 2, Magicka

You want to become a PC gaming nerd? Go buy World of Warcraft. That's all.

Well it was cheap, just $200. I was never expecting to play Crysis btw :P

Ill try what jbrist pointed out, thanks everyone.

Sorry, but that computer won't be able to run anything new. Maybe Starcraft2 on lowest settings. I hope you didn't pay much for it because honestly it's not worth more than 150$.
