I didnt think it would top 4 million, purely because it's predecessor received very mixed reviews at the time.

Ofcourse they have duh!
Let's say it cost 100 million to make and produce the game.
Then 2-3 million units sold at $60 means 120-180 million dollars which is way more then the way over-estimated 100 million.
DOY!

They Don't get 120-180 million they get about half that, maybe a little more if Guerilla is owned by Sony. As the stores normally take a little less than half that.
That said, The estimates I read were 40-60 million range http://vgsales.wikia.com/wiki/Most_expensive_video_games
And so that would be 60+ Million dollars, so that is at the very very least they break even, but most likely profit.

yes, they made profit from it. They make $48 per unit sold so they sold over 2 million units. Take 2 million mutiply that by 48 and that = 96 million. Take 96 million subtract 45 million (thats about how much it took to make killzone 2) and you get 51 million profit.

don't forget taxes, and publisher money.
I am sure they weren't profitable.
2.2 mil at 60 = $132,000,000 before becoming greatest hits. take out the cost to develop which i personally believe to be in the 40-50 million range; and i say they made a profit.
KZ3 will be releasing next year so i'd say Sony believes it made a profit otherwise they would have deaded the series. remember they didnt throw $100 million at advertising like M$ did with halo so yeah they was a big amount of profit made.
Don't know for Killzone 2 butGuerrilla will make a profit for sure when Killzone 3 will come out, it will probaby use the same engine and also the base of the game will probably be the same ( the control sheme, the AI will be built starting from killzone 2 solid base, developer have already mastered the use of ps3 hardwere ecc.), what I mean is that they now could make a great sequel, with signifacant minor costs.
okay so to all the xbox fan boys that want to bash on this game, and for the people that are curious lets do the basic math and put fan boy opinions on the side.............. so killzone 2 was a 60 million dollar budget for development. Okay so when killzone 2 first came out it sold a million copies within a short time. You multiply 1 million x 60 dollars ( obviously due to the fact their was no price drop at the time ) and what do you get 60 million! okay so just off a million copies they already broke even and got their development money back and thats just a million copies due the math!!! so killzone 2 life time is 2.35 million according to vg charts which are fairly good numbers. so you add another 1 million and thats another 60 million. Its not that hard guys. ( now i wait for the xbox fan boy diss and bashing response makin up some bs about how the game flopped because it didnt sell 20 million copies, as if EVERY game sells that much )

taxes are with everything so don't think that they are excused by anyone
also SONY was the publisher so it depedns on them what they take
you are saying as if you didn't want them to make profit.
they will reach 2.5-3m and they have certainely made profit
don't forget their main cost were to make an engine and that engine was used and helped alot of other SONY games too so they would easily have covered their cost
and the biggest thing now as they have their engine made killzone 3 will cost lesser
