Forums - Gaming - Bungie and Activision Announce Exclusive, Worldwide Partnership

My biggest concern at the moment is about Reach. How will post release support go? Bungie was very good in the past with support for the Halo games after release.

Microsoft will get 343 Industries working on that I suppose.

Wow. Biggest console news ever ?

Every future Bungie game will be on PS3, I don't see how MS could save the 360 after that huge blow, I mean Bungie was their flagship dev, it was the main exclusive dev the 360 had left.

Now every future Bungie game will be on PS3 too... It should be fun watching MS PR spin that bad news. That's what happens when you have very few internal studios. One day, 3rd parties leave the boat and it hurts a lot.

Biggest steal ever... Congrats to Sony.

Sony? its Activision.

Congrats to no one , not Sony not Microsoft not even Gamers , all their games will be crap now thanks to Activision, Halo Reach will probably be their last good game, i don't see how you are happy about this.

As far as we know, bungie has grown into a multiteam studio; so one team will be around to support Reach and other microsoft games.

I find it interesting that they locked a deal up for this next ip for 10 yrs, what kind of ip would you sign a 10 yr argreement on? Also its interesting that Microsoft, whom still owns and equity stake in Bungie, LLC(as far as we know, maybe bungie paid crazy money to buy it back), isn't going to be the publisher.

Well, the clear winners are Activision and Sony here, since Actibliz will clearly publish every Bungie game on PS3 now, like they do for all their games. Hence my 'Congrats to Sony'.

This should secure an even easier win for Sony in this HD console war and future console wars with MS too, unless MS finally buys / opens some internal studios.

EA would have been better choice. Too bad that Activision has more cash thanks to Blizzard.

Wow, are you applying for the job of official VGChartz DOOOOOOOOOM-sayer?

In response to this, MS put together a studio (343) over a year ago to handle everything Halo because Bungie said they weren't making any more Halo games. If that studio does a good job there shouldn't be much of a change. Besides, Halo players are just a bunch of stupid 13-year old n00bs right? They'll never notice.

This will affect the 360 brand very little, as the casual players won't really know about it and those of us that have been following the story have known for a year that 343 Studios will be handling the next Halo. Only in the land of the Sony colored sky will this do anything to third parties supporting the Xbox brand.

I hope to god that Activision doesn't destroy Bungie, I think they are a wonderful developer and deserve to be treated a lot better than Infinity Ward was. Good luck Bungie!

That really is huge news.

One of the most talented exclusive devs of the last 10 years is making mutliplatform games.

It's good for gamers really, more people will have a chance to play their games. Hopefully the quailty remians high with Activizion publishing.

Infinity Ward didn't like the Bungie thing so they said us or Bungie then Activision chose Bungie given Iinfinity Wards past to Bungies past.

A deal like this isn't initialized and concluded over a cup of tea, I'm sure it's been in the works since October the earliest. This is better than La Novelas.

I'm Unamerica and you can too.

you're under the assumption that the new ip will be good. Activision's COO said they were negotiating for 9 months on this deal, so its likely that bungie was shopping the idea around for a long time before they decided to go this route. Right now we have no idea what this ip is about. Lets hope they have a revealing at E3.

Also most Bungie Fans, who have 360s, seem upset at this deal. I don't think many of them are going to buy a PS3 just because this ip is going to be multiplat.
