Forums - Nintendo - Wii price cut ..... in Australia

A fine 100 AU bukcs price cut.

The Wii has received its first price drop in Australia and New Zealand. Starting tomorrow, 29 April 2010, the Wii will be sold for AU $299.95 (NZ $399.95).

This price drop of AU $100 is much more significant than the AU $50 drop which recently occured for the Nintendo DSi, which was introduced to make space for the DSi XL. Could Nintendo be gearing up for the release of a new home console?

Since its launch, Nintendo has sold over 1.79 million consoles in Australia.

Contributing to stereotype.

This is awesome news, and it is about f****ing time considering $400 Australian is about $370 US Dollars. YES, $370 AMERICAN FOR A WII.

edit> this is due to exchange rate and the shitty US Dollar ofcourse. Previously, so for the last 4 yrs before the crisis, the price has been about equal.

“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.

:D That's great to hear. Though pointless for me, considering I have a Wii.

At least I know that if mine brakes, I don't have to spend as much buying another one :P .

The timing is perfect for MH3. It releases tomorrow in Australia.
