Good job, Windows 7! It's really been abnormal when people insisted on using an 8 year old OS!
In the earlier years, you'd expect a new Windows every 2-3 years, and that should be the norm. It's as if MS was trying to "even" out the narrow gaps between 2000, Me and XP by making the latter last more than 5 years.
