by the way 14.7 plus 1.8 only equals 16.5 million....but then the front page shows 14.86 (will make 14.9 after Japan) so you are saying leo the Wii will only get to 16.7 million.

Try to look at it like this; Nintendo's current prediction for the fiscal year is 17.5 million (lets assume Nintendo are correct rather than their usual conservativeness)
17.5 + 5.84 (from before April07) = 23.34 million....I doubt they will sell more than 4 million during Jan/Feb/Mar, so take that away and you have 19.34 million.

that number is for retail of course so we may as well take away the 0.34 to give sold figures.
then if you like you can assume demand after the holiday is huge enough for 4.5 million (thats a maximum).

So then, 18.5 million MINIMUM leo.

another way to look at it would be reading Sri Lumpas post, which shows despite Nintendo being at 1.8 million production for a few months they have not sold that many....thus have enough stockpiled to make 18.5 million easily

Doubtful. I just don't know if Nintendo will be able to pump out that much. I only expect them to have 20 million shipped by the end of the year, and shipments take awhile to get to the Americas/Europe. So Personally I think it'll be anywhere between 18-19.5 million. I used to think it'd be between 17-18 million but I've had to drop back some of those ideas due to recent beastliness.

Right now after the week ending on Nov 24th we are more around 15 million. We've been undertracking Wii a little bit. So yea 5 million in 5 weeks. A million a week baby. DS could do it. Wii? Well if it had as much stock as DS then yes but its all going to be about stock. I'm doubtful though.

If they had this huge stockpile where is it. There is no reason now not to have them on the store floors. Went to 2 Best Buys today. One at lunch for a GPS unit and one this evening when my son needed ink for a paper. Both of them said they dont expect more Wii's until mid December. So if they had surplus sitting in a warehouse they would have them out already. The earlier they sell them the better chance someone else gets told and they pickup a game or accessory as a companion gift.

^ well by that logic thx they may as well have not stockpiled at all and just had a measly 3.5 million over christmas....which is a number the 360 might get close to.

Nintendo have to pace it out correctly or else it will fall through.... go back and look at the past comparison charts or something like the PS2...Nintendo have to release the stock each week with increasing amounts up to christmas because that is how the demand curve trends.....If they just kept releasing what they made it would screw things up....despite what Nintendo stated ("get a wii early cos there wont be any"), the average consumer either didn't read about it, or won't listen anyway, thus the week before christmas is when most of the average consumers will go looking for one.

Hmmm, approx 5M in one month....not going to happen. I'd say 17M to 18M by year end.

If the numbers from Y-Koron about WiiFit shipments are correct however then this is your prediction with the most chance of coming true.....I'm still a sceptic *sorry don't hurt me* but i would say there is at least half a chance... Nintendo probably want the bragging rights of having shipped 20 mil like MS did with 10 mil last year....except that almost what Nintendo ships gets sold.
