cyber monday?

Around the Network

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cyber_Monday

The term Cyber Monday refers to the Monday immediately following Black Friday, the ceremonial kick-off of the holiday online shopping season in the United States between Thanksgiving Day and Christmas. [1] Whereas Black Friday is associated with traditional brick-and-mortar stores, "Cyber Monday" symbolizes a busy day for online retailers. The premise was that consumers would return to their offices after the Black Friday weekend, making purchases online that they were not able to make in stores. Although that idea has not survived the test of time, Cyber Monday has evolved into a significant marketing event, sponsored by the National Retail Federation's Shop.org division, in which online retailers offer low prices and promotions.

so no screaming woman involved?

Instead of seeking to convince others, we can be open to changing our own minds, and seek out information that contradicts our own steadfast point of view. Maybe it’ll turn out that those who disagree with you actually have a solid grasp of the facts. There’s a slight possibility that, after all, you’re the one who’s wrong.

Some get nearly as excited about online deals, but it just isn't the same without the mob effect and dies down much quicker...

thx, I didn't know why it was called black friday !!

Time to Work !

It's the day when sales are great!

I bought a $270 monitor for $170...sat outside in sub-zero weather from 9pm-5am...for the experience!

It's just kind of fun to camp out with a bunch of friends, drinking hot chocolate, coffee, anything warm (and then of course having to run into the woods because of said drinks)...and talking to fellow people in line.  I was a few chairs back from my friends, so when I felt like sitting down, I just talked to the people around me...good times.  One of the ladies there had a DS so we played some Mario Kart hehe.

LEFT4DEAD411.COM
Bet with disolitude: Left4Dead will have a higher Metacritic rating than Project Origin, 3 months after the second game's release.  (hasn't been 3 months but it looks like I won :-p )

Lines actually can be fun depending on the line. I gotta tell you when I lined up for the PS3 it was kinda tense because everybody knew there were only 11 orders. The wii line had 60 orders and was very nice. I met a lot of cool people and still talk to some of them.

It is because this is the day that has the most night according to wiccan calendars. So, as tradition has it when the great wiccan king of Golan came in 1473 BC and killed off 100,000's of people it was on this day, Friday. Thus, Black Friday.

The whole retailer thing is just an urban myth. Mine is factually based in a pre-historical oral tradition made up on the spot.
The Wiccans in your made up on the spot myth must have pretty crappy calendars - winter solstice is in December!

From what I've been reading around here, it's a day when shops lose a lot of money in order to try to get customers into buying some stuff there later in the holiday season!

Black Friday is the day after Thanksgiving, typically known as the biggest sales day of the year.

Wait...do you mean best sales (like half off...whatever) or best sales (like...$$$)?

Best sales (half off), I can agree with. Best sales ($$$), typically it's not.

Game of the year.

Now Playing: Guitar Hero III (Wii)
