Forums - Sony - First 3D PS3 Games Getting Visual Downgrades

CommonMan said:
I'm going to guess that resolution will suddenly become amazingly unimportant all of a sudden.

For the record, I don't care if it gets downgraded if it's still a cool experience, and it's the first step to getting our VR interface on home consoles, so good on you Sony.

Why do you think that? are you comparing it to Other OS?

Pacific Rift is awesome!

Nintendo is selling their IPs to Microsoft and this is true because:

It won't notice that because 3D gives you a much more crispy and shinny image. Apart of being 3D.

At least in the case of movies, it is like this.

If it works, its going to be a pretty good reason for a console to come sooner rather than later. We finally have a reason why a console maker would want to make a wickedly powerful console and release early! Its so they can grab the early adopter market with a noisy and stinking hot console and shrink it in time for the launch of the other two.

Tease.

Sony is really not implementing 3D properly here...but I understand why they are doing it like this. They want to sell you the new 3D TVs...

They should have implemented a 3D driver that supports checkerboard pattern.

That would allow them to drop 1/2 of the resolution processing and show a 720p image per eye yet have both images come together in the persons brain and form a 1080p image.

But no...must support new HDMI 1.4 tech...even when its not needed.
I'm still looking to try PS3 in 3D but I can't help think that the experience will be flat compared to Nvidia 3D vision.

@Mazty

GF100 chips do 3D just fine. I have a gtx295 and it handles Metro2033 (considered one of the best looking games) and I get a perfectly playable frame rate in 3D with everything maxed out at 1080p. Other games like borderlands and left 4 dead 2 have 100+ frames per second...in 3D

Just like this gen with Sony's "killzone cant be done yadaydyayd..." i Dont care what the "Specs" are. If it looks good, plays good and is cool, its a win. Keep the numbers for the epeen wars, i havent heard anyone who has seen or played MS or Wipeout say its looks bad, so im holding back my judgment on this graphics scare until we see some evidence.

I dont care how many polygons youre rendering per second or whatever, if it looks good, it looks good.

I expected this so... yay me!

WRONG! Not ALL games, just SOME of the older games that have been quickly ported to 3d. StardustHD has been ported to 3d at 1080 and 120hz (60hz for each eye), all they did was tweak the code, and there is a amazing amount of objects flying around in that game. So that " current generation can only process very rudimentary graphics at that spec" is total b.s.

Here's a low rez review to show how much "rudementary graphics" it has:

and if you want a 1080 video, it's here ( but only a PS3 or high powered PC will be able to view it) http://www.3fg-inc.com/Videos/Video%20Reviews%20HD/SSDHD/Super_Stardust_HD_Video_Review_1080p.mp4
