no. It has nothing to do with CP. It has everything to do with drops. A five star battle is much more likely to give you a rare drop. The more stars the better your drop chances are.

the chocobo digging game is kinda a mini game... But ya. I buried 100 hours into this game. Once you hit chapter 10 or so it really picks up.

They do mean something, they don't mean others
The amount of CP you get from the battle is NOT affected by the rating, the loot you receive is
