Recently I got banned on the forums for stating the Uncharted series looks better than Alan Wake based the first footage of the game (this due to repeated hype by some VGChartz forum members it's the technically most impressive console game). I did however state I thought the game looked cool.

I did not know you could get banned for such a thing. I think many still remember the time when Resistance: Fall of Man launched for the PS3, we had many people bringing up the looks of Gears of War on the XBox 360 at the time. That was uncalled for as nobody was claiming it was the best looking game out there. Later games like Uncharted: Drake's Fortune arrived for the PS3 and the mention of Gears of War pretty much died with that, but instead very often Crysis on highend gaming PCs was brought into the discussion when a top notch PS3 game was about to be released...

I do not protest the ban, but do find this ackward and would like to get more information.

Some example comments from other (not banned) people within that thread, before I actually posted:

"best graphics on 360 and can rival anything on the ps3"

"the atmosphere does not compare with Fatal Frame or Silent Hill 1 & 2"

"To be honest, it doesn't look that much better than Silent Hill Homecoming or Alone in the Dark right now."

"Uncharted has better graphics"

So does it affect what is allowed or not allowed based on the console, or the game in question or the poster? Why pretend I started such comparisons? (maybe I just provided better arguments for backing up this statement?)

You went too far for a change MikeB and deliberately derailed an entire thread, its called trolling and against the forum rules. If you don't like reading positive news about the 360 and its games then do everyone a favour and do not click on those threads. I didn't see you aound in GOW3 and Uncharted 2 threads downplaying the graphics prior to release, stop pretending you were being unbiased or neutral with no agenda to your post.

Bans are very dependant on the mods interpretation on this site, I've been banned for what a mod thought I meant rather than breaking any rules previously.  You've been treated very leniantly in comparison to some users on here from what I've seen, be grateful.

You were banned, so yes you did go too far. You said you aren't protesting the ban but you're now saying they were wrong to ban you. That's a huge contradiction.

There is a post on here regarding all my moderations, take a look sometime, it makes for an interesting read (http://www.vgchartz.com/forum/post.php?id=3317974). The difference is very few people on this site know me, yet many know yourself which tells me you've caused enough trouble to become infamous now.

Well, where's the thread in question? People need to see it before making an opinion.

Take it up with the Mod who bannend you or Naznatips... they can give you an answer... it's too nice of a day in the Netherlands to make a thread like this.. go get a beer outside.. :)

GIve the link to the thread/post in question. I for one have complained about even some Mods derailing threads and even accusing others of being trolls fanboys out front and no consequences...I find it a bit strange but nothing I honestly care for really...just my two or maybe three cents on the matter, don't let it get to you too much

That was MikeB's first post in the thread on page 5, you can go back to page 1 if you like. Pay particular attention to his second post in the thread on page 6 that he doesn't backtrack from the Uncharted 2 discussion in the Alan Wake thread. Skip to page 11 and onwards where the thread has been completely wrecked with Uncharted 2 discussion and the subsequent fallout has resulted in many users been given moderations. MikeB was one of those responsible for causing that mess, you cannot throw fuel on a pile of wood then claim you're blameless at the resulting inferno when someone lights the match.

I would add that the bad feeling generated in that thread wrecked many other Alan Wake threads that week too.
