Forums - Nintendo - What kind of review is this?!?!

Let's just say that the reviewer didn't try to hide his anti-Wii bias at all. In fact he uses the fact that he's reviewing SMG to attack the Wii itself. That doesn't bode well for the rest of the review...

The review is biased. That's a fact.

You can't compare games that have entirely different artistic style for graphical differences.

Except maybe something like Contra III vs. Rayman Raving Rabbids, but that'd be an absolutely ridiculous comparison anyhow.

RE4 doesn't compare to SMG at all for the simple fact that RE4 was meant to look mostly realistic and SMG, well, wasn't.

Reisinger reminds me of this kid I know at work. He says he doesn't want to play Wii games because he wants to look at a game and see something like a security keypad or an air conditioner or something else completely simple and unimportant, and be like, "Holy shit, that looks amazing! It's like I'm really looking at it!"

Someone with that kind of mentality simply doesn't belong reviewing a Mario game, period.

Here's a quick and easy way to think about any reviews you may come across that look like this, for any game on any system:

Everyone is entitled to their opinion. But not all opinions should be granted equal weight.

Mario Galaxy, for example, is a very good game... albeit one with some definite flaws. If I had more time, I'd write up one of my lengthy reviews for the game, now that I'm nearly finished it. The problem with this review in particular is not that it attacks Mario Galaxy, but that the complaints it makes are wildly non-topical and unsupported by factual argumentation. You're not going to get many people to believe that it looks worse than 2001-era games, for example, and I'm simply not buying any argument that Galaxy controls poorly either.

So obviously this guy can say whatever he wants. However, it's our equal privilege to accord his opinion little or no weight! Sometimes, free speech means giving people the freedom to reveal their own stupidity.

wait... a blog is a review... since when?

Post of the thread.  Everyone in here is getting mad over a blog about how some person doesn't give thier game a nine out of ten and they must go crazy

Haven't heard that one before, but it makes some sense.

However, I have one problem....shouldn't free speech come with responsibility? I mean, we all heard Uncle Ben in Spiderman say that "With great power comes responsibility." Well, freedom of speech, the right to say whatever you want without punishment, IS a great power. And everybody has a responsibility to use it wisely....not use it for slander or to spread lies like stating that SMG is graphically worse than games from 2001. I know the person isn't a reviewer and it was just a blog, but what a person writes is much worse than what they say. Comments spoken can be misheard; what is written is rarely misread. Most of us can ignore this blog because we know better, but what about those who don't?....Yeah, I think I got too deep for internet forums....let me just leave it as me agreeing with you and move on lol.

Great. If we do not get a MG bashing thread everyday life is not fun anymore. There was another thread about the same author were he said Wii was doomed and 3rd party support was minimal.
