I'm sorry to hear about your loss. Hopefully justice will find that asshole.

Most of the times, the victims of abusive relationship refuse to get out of it themselves.

One reason that often comes up (at least over here in Finland, the promised land of spousal abuse) is simple: The abused still care deeply about their abusers, despite the horrible things they put them thru.

OT: Sorry to hear about your loss. Crap like this is never acceptable.

It's a vicious cycle. But if the victim just decided to stay in such relationship, the victim is also to blame.

Since everything reminds me of something.......

This reminds me of the case where this lady who was a 3rd grade teacher (her name was Tracey Harley) hired a guy to kill her husband. I had nothing to do with her arrest, but we had to house her in our jail. She was a nympho (I'm not exaggerating) and she hired a black guy to kill her husband.

She seemed so innocent, but on the day of her court case, she described how she was listening as the guy bashed her husband's head in, and how he pleaded for his life. It was like she transformed from Martha Stewart into that woman from Basic Instinct, right before my eyes!

She enticed one of my friends into sex while she was in custody, too. He got into some serious trouble. Easily, the closest thing to a super villain that I have ever met.

Google "Tracey Harley Jenkins County" for the media version of the story.

also, sorry Marcus. Losing someone you love in such a horrific way. I just don't have the words. Once again, I'm sorry.

So she turned from a super bitch to an evil bitch?

Joking aside, the quiet innocent ones are always the ones with the most blood on their hands.

And as far as abusive relationships, I don't get it. I arrested this guy for beating the hell out of this woman. I took photographs, and between the time of his arrest, I went to her place of work and repeatedly tried to convince her to testify against him. I showed her what she looked like and actually began a relationship with her.

On the day of court, she was sitting beside him. She lied to the judge, saying that he had taken anger management classes and that she was pregnant with his child. The case was dismissed. All she could say to me was, "I'm sorry". And, inevitably, he beat her up again.

Perhaps deep down she was a masochist?

That has to be it.  Or I was a terrible lover.  One or the other.
