Microsoft is very very good in not overshipping/undershipping.

That's not 100% true:

Microsoft's Fiscal Year 2006-07

Q1 Q2 Q3 Q4 FY LTD

PS2 3.4 6.7 2.4 2.7 15.2 25.2

360 1.0 4.4 0.5 0.7 6.6 11.6

PS3 - 1.7 1.8 0.7 4.2 4.2

WII - 3.1 2.7 3.4 9.2 9.2

That's a clear case of overshipping in Q2

Thats was because MS was flooding the canals to get to the 10 million mark first.............stupid really

And it was Christmas .....

The point is that they have overshipped before, regardless of the reason or excuse.

Do they ever provide games shipment data?

No

When have they overshipped?

Q2 on the table that I provided, that's as clear as day, but if you don't think they overshipped and you think that shipping 1.2 million for the next 6 months is normal and not a clear sign that they overshipped the previous Q, then I have nothing else to say.

You are completely ignoring my reply. Q2 is CHRISTMAS. they didn't over ship, they shipped to demand. Look at the PS2 ship 6.7 mill the sam Q. Christmas is the busiest time or year.

I'm not ignoring it, everybody ships more during Christmas, never denied that, but they still have some decent shipping for the quarters following it. X360 overshipped during Christmas season that year. That's a fact that's as clear as day by looking at that table, I don't even know why you're debating this. Everybody else had higher Q2 as well but had some decent shipments the following quarters, unlike the 360.

You can't compare the 360 to any of the other consoles, it was it's first full xmas season and in a different position to the PS2, PS3 and Wii.

You're just seeing what you wanna see, the proof is in the pudding, here's the PS3 and Wii first full xmas season:

Microsoft's Fiscal Year 2007-08

        Q1 Q2 Q3 Q4 FY LTD

PS2 3.2 5.4 2.4 1.5 12.5 37.7

360 1.8 4.3 1.3 1.3 8.7 20.3

PS3 1.3 4.9 2.2 1.6 10.0 14.2

WII 3.9 7.0 4.3 5.2 20.4 29.6

So what's the excuse now? As a matter of fact, I've shown, with facts, that they have overshipped, you asked a question, I answered it, so let me ask you a question, how have they not overshipped and stuffed the channels in Q2 when for the next 6 they shipped a whooping 1.2 million? I'm not saying MS is wrong for overshipping? But they have as you can clearly see on the table - and choose not to see it like in your case.

Again, 2007 - 2008 a year not in the 360's favour.

Go get 2008 - 2009 figures, and if they show a similar pattern I'll agree.

the problem with launch year is that both PS3 and Wii were both in high demand, so were always going to ship a lot more than 360 in Q2. The problem with 2007/08 is that PS3 came out of xmas with a price cut, meaning the demand was still there in Q2, and wii ... well the demand has always been high.

If 2009 Q2 shows the 360 was overshipped at christmas, when it still had high demand from the price cut and NXE marketing, then I agree they overship.

You said all that and all you gave me were excuses as to why the 360 overshipped, i.e.  you saying "Again, 2007 - 2008 a year not in the 360's favour." and you still didn't answer the question, so let me ask again, how does MS shipping 1.2 million in 6 months not show that it overshipped the quarter before? I'm not asking for an excuse or a reason, I'm asking you to show me how it didn't overship.

I JUST told you, 1.2 mill is probably normal levels for a console NOT in demand, the 360 wasn't in demand at that point in time, PS3 and Wii were.

LOL if you really think that then you really don't understand how this works or you're too stubborn to try to understand. 1.2 million shipped in 6 months being normal levels for a console on its 2nd year LMFAO. Either way I'm done with this conversation, if you choose to ignore facts then it's hard to have a conversation with somebody.

All I see is PS3 going for the kill this year.

How can you gage whether 1.2 low? would that be low for the gamecube?

That aside, I already asked you to get me Q2 figures for 09, either you're ignoring that, or you've found them and they don't prove your point.

360's second year was it's slowest out of the last 4, so yeah 1.2 is fine ...

I hadn't bothered to look because your logic is not sound. Not overshipping in 09 does not equal not overshipping in 07, how does that even make any sense? Furthermore I'm not your bitch so I'm not gonna get you something just because you want me to.

You can gauge how low or high something is based on shipments per quarter. 1.2 million in 2 quarters after a previous of 4.4 million is horrible and a clear case of overshipping. Ok really done with this convo now, I think you understand this but you're choosing to not understand and go against facts. Waste of time discussing this with you. Have a good day.

I told you why, yet again you're ignoring most of what I'm saying.

The christmas season is always going to be busy for any of the big 3, so 4.4 million to 1.2 is absoloutely in line with what consoles sell. You do realise consoles sell roughly the same in Oct - Dece than the first 9 months of the year right?

Again, The reason the PS3 and Wii had decent Q2's is because A) the first was when they wee launched, and B) (2008) the PS3 just came out of a christmas with a price cut, so demand was higher, and the wii was generally in high demand anyway.

2009 Q2 SHOULD show a similar pattern to PS3 Q2 2008, but if you don't want to prove me wrong then fine, I'll have a look tonight and post it here later.

I agree with ElGran.. just thought i'd put it out there.

@seece&elgrancabeza I think this might help to your discussion, if I may intrude....
