I heard that the PS3 can play PS1 games, I was wonderinf if the PS3 has slots for PS1 memory cards. Or does the data save on the PS3? And is is possible to transfer PS1 game data?

It saves directly on the HDD by creating a fictual memory card on your HDD. Yes you can also transfer games files but youll need an adaptor sold by Sony to do it. The adapter plug in the USB on your console and have a slot for memory card at the other end.
