How is that an impendment? Amphibious creatures have been used for both Grass and Water starters. 

If anything, a pure marine creature would make much more sense as a Water starter.

With black/white, do you think they'll mix things up and let you choose a dark type (and possibly a new light type) as a starter?

I'd love to have some pre-evolutionary form of Absol as a starter.

Hmm i'd like a:

Dog looking grass type pokemon

Reptile looking water type pokemon

Dragon looking fire type pokemon.

They all have too look cute in their basic forms though and stand out from the past starter pokemons.

Grass should be a bipedal lizard like creature. Treegle > Branchim > Treegon

Fire should be a large wolf like creature. Igpup > Wolfein > Igfernolf

Water should be a sea serpent. Seaga > Araquille > Searagea

It should focus on something other than grass/fire/water.

I want the starters to always be the original (why can't we go back to basics?).

Bulbasaur --> Ivysaur --> Venusaur
Charmander --> Charmeleon --> Charizard
Squirtle --> Wartortle --> Blastoise

I still think there's never been a better startup selection than the original!
