Forums - Gaming - IGN AU - Nier Review

Thanks Nordlead, I never thought I could fail so much in one thread, let's see if I can redeem myself.

Rating Description

7.5 Presentation
Solid menus, maps and an unobtrusive HUD give Nier a little spit-polish shine.
6.5 Graphics
Inconsistent but occasionally impressive. Nier looks like a B-team title through and through - but there are moments that will grab you.
8.5 Sound
Excellent score that evokes the right feel for the far-flung future fantasy. The voice actors do a great job with unremarkable storytelling.
7.0 Gameplay
The ideas and the ambition are there in spades, but nothing really stands out. Nier is a great example of how too many ideas can be just as bad as not enough.
7.5 Lasting Appeal
It's a grand adventure - a couple dozen hours to see most of the story, plus side quests and endings.
7.3
Decent

Much improved.

I can't believe you got another crack at this.

OT: I still think I'm going to get this, just not soon.

Well Drakengard is a 63 on metacritic and IMO it is one of the best PS2 games out there. So I will like this too!

I guess a hermaphodite is not enough to get a high score.

Pixel Art can be fun.

In case you want to read more reviews.

Nice read from Videogamer. I'm definitely picking this up! :D

As soon as I saw the first gameplay trailer of Nier I was skeptical. The fact the graphics were mediocre wasn't a huge deal, but it just looked very unpolished. When you're competing in a genre with God of War, Bayonetta and DMC, you better have polish and strong production values.

It may not have better graphics, but from Videogamers review it most likily has a better story. But those games aren't hard to top anyways for that.
