Doesnt even matter to me. Like all my devices (blu-ray player etc.) I use my HDMI cable to run to my 7.1 Surround sound reciever and from my reciever i run another HDMI cable to go to my TV. No need for an optical cable.

I would rather they didn't hand out cables to people that didn't need them and hence save some money towards R&D and also help the environment a little. It's rather wasteful giving out cables that might not be needed, its a better policy for stores to make sure that when a customer buys a product they have all they need. |
100% yes. This industry is hideously wasteful enough as it is. If you're actually complaining that you have to buy a cable separately then you're a big part of the problem. Comments like "I don't care about the environment so why should I have to buy a $1 cable" and "I'm already being wasteful by buying a 360 so why shouldn't I be as wasteful as possible" pretty much solidify you as someone who is not responsible enough to make your own decisions.
| NJ5 said: Yes, it's incredibly stupid not to include a HDMI cable with the 360 or PS3. HD and graphical quality is a big part of these consoles' philosophy, and given that it costs peanuts... I wonder if retailers are partly to blame. They make tons of money on overpriced HDMI cables, maybe they pressured MS/Sony not to include HDMI cables. |
Thats a good point...

Yeah Monster Cables are a total scam, especially HDMI and other digital cables (digital signals can work through the crappiest of cables just as well as they work with the "superior" cables).

And nice signature , bro :hi5:
I read this thread in utter disbelief... How much was the price drop from the 360s with the HDMI cable and the ones without? Wasn't it around $100.00? At least $30.00 of that price drop came from not including an HDMI cable, this I guarantee you. So, I basically get an HDMI cable from amazon for nothing, and MS puts an extra $27.00 or so bucks into my pocket...good deal if you ask me. I just don't get what the point of complaining is, I mean MS did drop the price when they deleted the HDMI cable, it's not like the 360 is still the same price, but now does not include the cable.

I'm not really understanding your point. How can $30 of the price drop be related to the HDMI cable? I hope you don't think that the cable costs anywhere near that to produce.

Easy, the two happened at the same time, how can you think they are not related? The cable may not cost more than a few bucks, but the markup is pretty decent, even if they weren't to sell it at full market value, what they thought it was worth vs. the price of ones you can get for less than $3.00 is enough to make me glad that they nixed the HDMI cable.
