Not played either of those.

Might get them when I get an iphone....but they will probably seem a big step down from the fantastic SNES ones so I'm afraid to go into them & come out not liking them.

Ah.. too bad you don't have your iphone yet.. they are on sale now with the release of Chaos Rings... $6.99 each that's a very nice price for those games...

You need realistic expectations but the first, at least, is a very (very) solid game. For an NES game it actually has a very good plot, too, and of course the character customization was great for its time. It's excellently balanced and very fun.

Hmmm I'll probably buy the iphone versions then when I get an iphone after my exams. I guess it'll be cool to experience the game that began the legend!!!!!! lol

But I'll go in with low/medium expectations. (If thats what you meant by "realistic expectations")

Do the iPhone versions have the original difficulty or are they one of those pansy-fied "the original game now uses MP" packages?

I haven't beaten FF2.

FF1, though, I'd give an 8. Great game all the way through, legitimately challenging, requires quite a bit of thoguht in how to manage your resources.

Edit: You're doing one for every game, right? FF1-6 included?

yes doing one for all games, tomorow i do ff3/4 then ff5/6 day after. then ff9 on saturday and on from there to 13. i need a minimum of 20 votes for each ff game for the average to be fair in comparison to other ff games (so far less votes in this one)

I see.

Why lump the old games together?

as ff2 wasnt released in west originally so nt many ppl wud hve playd it, so i clumped it in with th ff1 thread. sry if i offended u.

Not offended, I was just curious. Was wondering if it was just to save time or whatever.

I didn't really play enough of FF2 to rate it but I've played plenty of FF.

For it's time it was pretty incredible but the game just doesn't hold up today. Even the ones with the updated graphics and whatnot, it's still just not a good game by today's standards. I would say I don't know why SE keeps remaking it but people keep buying it so I guess I should so I don't know why people keep buying it.

If it were 1990 I'd rate it higher but now 6/10, I'll give it a few points for nostaligia.

Also, why are you lumping V with VI? I promise you VI has plenty of an audience to do by itself, there's no point to put V with it.

Sorry I have no idea. Is it meant to be easier?

Well the original game was real hard. The PS1 remake let you use the original difficulty or play on an easier mode. The GBA version was just the easy mode. I don't know what the PSP version was.

I agree with twesterm FF6 deserves it OWN THREAD since its got lots of fans

And cus its the BEST one!

The iPhone version is the PSP version and the PSP version had the GBA gameplay.. magic points.. so no magic charge...
