Any replacement parts or Xbox Product will be new or refurbished or serviceably used, comparable in function and performance to the original part or Xbox Product and warranted for the remainder of the original Warranty Period or 30 days from the date of shipment of the Xbox Product back to you, whichever is longer.

Thank you. And thus the point of the article remains valid.

Who are you trying to kid? This isn't an article... it's a forum post. They guy doesn't even have any sources!

Also I am 16 times more credible then him :P

What's with the ad hominem attacks? Are we going to to talk about typos next? So far I have seen nothing in this thread that disproves the OP.

"Well certainly with the Xbox 360, we had some challenges at the launch. Once we identified that we took control of it. We wanted to do it right by our customers. Our customers are very important to us." -Larry "Major Nelson" Hryb (10/2013). Note: RRoD was fixed with the Jasper-revision 3 years after the launch of 360

"People don't pay attention to a lot of the details."-Yusuf Mehdi explaining why Xbone DRM scheme would succeed

"Fortunately we have a product for people who aren't able to get some form of connectivity; it's called Xbox 360,”-Don Mattrick

"The region locking of the 3DS wasn't done for profits on games"-MDMAlliance

Damyouall has one VERY GOOD point, prove him wrong with numbers and articles, not insults. Its far more effective.

assumption is the mother of all f**k ups

What ad hominems?  Can you point them out for us?  Most of what I see seems to be people (rightly) questioning the credibility, methodology and validity of said "article"?

The J man is speechless.....the double standards being thrown around is rediculous.

The J man is going to make a thread titled " 360 even further ahead of the PS3" and laugh at how different it will be from this thread.

N64 is the ONLY console of the fifth generation!!!

I wouldn't go as far as saying that the PS3 is ahead of the 360 in terms of the number of people who own the console, but it is entirely possible that the number of 360's sold is exaggerated by 2-3 million due to people buying replacement consoles after their 360 went out of warranty. In regard of that though, the 360 does have a higher attach rate because many PS3 owners bought the PS3 as a blu-ray player instead of a gaming machine. In addition, the reason we have yet to see a PS3 exclusive approach the sales of a 360 exclusive is that PS3 owners are more diverse when it comes to taste; some may purchase an exciting adventure game like Uncharted 2, others may purchase a fun family game such as Little Big Planet. 360 owners are a bit more united when it comes to taste and hence we see the sales of software such as Halo 3 and Gears of War in the 5 million plus range. The only game that PS3 owners share a similar liking in is Gran Turismo (and MGS4 to an extent), which appeals to a wide array of audiences

Well, even if the numbers are skewed, i think the point of the article is that the PS3 userbase is much larger in comparison to X360 than people normally think. Maybe more, maybe less. Probably just about even though, esp the way multi plat games have been selling lately

You should read more closely what you are postnig.  The Limited warrnaty for the 360 for Rrod is three years and upon replacement is given a new warranty that is covered again under the implied warranty section.  You posted the warranty section that covers parts outsie of the Rrod, for examplea a new dvd drive.

As I already stated my 2005 360 Rrod in 2007 and was refurbished.  It is now under warranty until sept 2010. I know because I actually own a 360 and when I spoke with the CS rep I wanted to know when my new warranty would be void.

I do see the part in the warranty information which clearly states that the warranty for refurbished 360's is 90 or the remiander of the original warranty  Perhaps since my replacement in 2007 they have ammended the warranty since newer models are more reliable.  Either way the OP is still way off.

He has a point that has already proven wrong, saying otherwise doesn't make it any less true.

Every 360 ever sold is still in use one way or another. Unless that console has been beat to death or broken beyond repair (very very small amount). If you even remotely understand the 360 console scene, you would know that IF your console breaks outside of the 3 year warranty (which by the way does extend an additional 3 years for RROD after each repair, I asked Customer Service and both mine and my friend's was extended for another 3 years), you usually sell it on craigslist or ebay. People buy those and fix them and resell them or use them.

I have fixed a few out of warranty 360's myself for RROD, E74, etc and they are still running strong today. They are still in use by people to play 360 games. This means the install base and the overall sales figures are still very very accurate. The only 360's not in use are ones that are literally thrown away (most likely way less than 1%, overall).

Also, these broken and then repaired units are often bought up by modders to mod and play 360 games for cheap. Now, considering all these factors, it is amazing that the 360 attach rate is so high. Without modders it would be even higher still!

So, to summarize, it is impossible that the installed currently used bases of the PS3 and 360 are even remotely close unless you expect me to believe that every 360 owner buys like 3 copies of every game they own, and own over 15 games a piece.
