@ selnor

Lighting and environments are either classed as the best or up there as the best. It seems what is stopping Alan Wake getting overall Graphics king is character models and animation.

Not only that, sub-HD 540p rendering and lack of detail in textures are amongst the other issues which would prevent this by default. Also I read about bad lip sync and screen tearing.

The lighting is interesting, but not the best on consoles technically as pointed out earlier. Uncharted 2 and God of War 3 beats this game at this.

I haven't seen single best scale comment, and from all I've seen from AW, it won't come anywhere near the scale of first 5 minutes of GoW3. Reviewers are pointing out bad textures, dated character models, stiffy animation, not impressive daylight settings and sub-HD resolution.

The only thing everyone is praising is lighting. Which is to be expected, since it's the main focus of the whole game.

So drop these delusional googles and accept the fact, that AW is nowhere near as you claimed it to be from the technical standpoint. And remember this for the future, to save yourself the embarasment.

MY HYPE LIST: 1) Gran Turismo 5; 2) Civilization V; 3) Starcraft II; 4) The Last Guardian; 5) Metal Gear Solid: Rising

I'm not gonna argue with many of you here. Ive already made a very laughable thread. And now sig. LOL.

But I will say. Any review Ive read thats mentioned 540p has basically said it's a non issue, and is just as crisp as any top game.

Lip syncing comes under character modeling.

And according to reviews no GOW3 and U2 dont beat AW lighting. Lighitng without a doubt whether it be Gametrailers, IGN or Gamepro. All in awe of AW lighitng. Dancing shadows, fog, scale and environments are all points where Alan Wake finds itself right there in the mix with Crysis, GOW3 and U2. It would seem, more attention on lip syncing and animations would have resolved any quams at all with graphics from reviewers. And some added attention to detail on supporting characters. I'm a little disappointed to be honest.

5 years, and it's like they forgot to do the character model finishing touches in the last 6 months. Obviosuly I havent played it, but it would seem it's very much like the Heavy Rain graphics. Best of in some areas, and not in others. A shame, that such trivial things make it fall short, rather than technical hinderances.

But you have to LOL at me.

Ok now you're taking this too far.... AW definitely has the best lighting and shadows up until now. Period. And, only the geometry buffer is 540p. The frame buffer itself BEFORE going to the scaler is 720p native.

Well, Selnor. I will just remember you from some facts:

You will have to buy a PS3 if you want best graphics on any console this generation. Stick with it. Oh, and where are any news claiming that Alan Wake is only possible on X360?

I deserve anything youve got. Seriously. LOL. ;)

LOL. At myself. LOL.

Reading through the reviews I have seen a very obvious trend.

I will point out that I find it strange many reviewers claim AW to be best lighting, onscreen action or environments over any other game. But just animation and character models being the only thing in another game to better Wake puts it top?

It would seem Remedy spent so much time making their lighting, environments and scale untouchable and forget to bring the character models up to date.

But I agree. I'm not gonna find the best graphics ever comments I was after. Plenty of best ever lighting, environments and scale comments. And plenty of best overall 360 graphics.
But no crunch comments guys.

And I'm very shocked that reviews giving AW 8 or less claiming it's better than any Silent Hill. What damn score did they give Silent Hill?

lately like between 6-mid 8's I think I'm not sure. The first two, SH1-SH2 were rated between 8-10 with the highest and IMO best silent hill being 89 meta

My numbers could be wrong as I haven't checked meta for all of them. I just remember reading those reviews, as I loved the first 2

GOD3 and Uncharted 2 have better HDR. GOD3 and Killzone 2 have way more light sources. Of course Alan Wake is a darker experience in general to show off lighting, but the bright areas receive criticism.

The game is rendered in 540p, software scales this to fit in with the 720p HUD, the hardware scalers (in the 360 and maybe HDTV) scale this to the screen's native resolution. Please don't be upset, I didn't design the game.

I'm upset because you're talking nonsense. You're obviously biased towards those games. AW HDR is superior.. KZ2 has some prebaked lighting, while AW does not.

I'll say it again. The opaque geometry buffer, which is the "lines" and textures, are 540p. The frame before before going to the scaler, is 720p, which means, most of the processing and effects is done @720p, and after that, the 720p HUD is added to that final 720p image.

I'm done discussing this, since I already know where this is going.
