So here is the thread.

This thread is purely to see how many reviewers use the words "best console graphics", "best graphics this gen" or anything on those lines.

Guys if I'm wrong, I'm wrong. I'm a man and I can take it. Currently God Of War 3 holds the crown. So when the embargo lifts, so does the embargo of all my flapping for the graphics of Alan Wake. ( What you dont think I can take a joke on myself? ).

Anyways, as I mentioned, this is not a review score thread, but a thread hunting for reviewers opinions. I think it will be pretty resounding that Alan Wake will have alot of graphical praise. Those that disagree, I guess we will find out in a week or so.

"Much has been made of Alan Wake's less-than HD resolution, but the bottom line is that it's a stunning looking title. No game released so far this generation features lighting effects more impressive, or so much going on. *At times, with the wind blowing, smoke in the air, objects flying around, flares alight and enemies coming at you, there'd be an argument for this being one of the most visually striking games ever released. It's that impressive. During certain dramatic moments the game even pauses and pans around Alan, giving you a chance to take it all in."

*Very tenuous. The reviewer is saying an argument can be made, not definitive best graphics. This review does not claim best graphics, but best lighting. I can understand why you would want to use it but for me the current number of reviews still stand at 0.

I read that too and I was like wtf? Where does it claim it owns everything else. Seems the 90+ Meta is pretty much not gonna happen. 78-85 seems more likely :|. For me the number is still 0.

My thoughts exactly this is already a done deal no point to keep on going with this might aswell admit it now, end it and move on.

IGN AU - "We should also mention that the story is let down a little by facial animations that don't do a great job selling what's going on. Characters look quite wooden and simply aren't capable of believable expressions or lip syncing."

Destructoid - "The game manages to be one of the most visually accomplished 360 games out there. While it's not reaching the peak of the PS3's capabilities, the game has a fantastic and evocative artistic style, and there are some wonderful setpieces and lighting."

Gameplanet - "The facial animations, particularly mouths, leave something to be desired in a game so character-driven."

Gamepro - I also noticed an inconsistency in the character models. The title character looks detailed and refined, but the rest of the cast look positively dated in comparison. They exhibit awkward animations, which is made even stranger when you take into account the town's picturesque environments."

1UP - "If anything, Alan Wake reminds me of the first Uncharted. It is a great, but flawed work (hello ugly daylight, quirky animations, and a script that mocks the viewer even more than Lost or Twin Peaks) that lays the foundation for what could be an absolutely amazing follow-up."

Eurogamer - "The genre has moved on since then. Games such as BioShock have shown how compelling and original storylines can be told in innovative ways. The likes of Uncharted 2 have offered up not just lush visuals but diverse locations and varied gameplay. With Heavy Rain, Quantic Dream broke the rules of game narrative and forced the player not only to think before pulling the trigger, but to feel. By comparison, Alan Wake is tired and derivative. Everything about it feels dated, from the linear level design to the red-green switch nonsense to the visual stylings (surely not even J Allard has attempted the hoodie-with-jacket combo since 2005)."

Games Radar (in-house) - "Another contributor to Alan Wake's cinematic vibe are the graphics. You won't necessarily be blown away by the texture detail of the world or the facial animation of the characters, but you will be in constant awe of something that's arguably more important to the survival horror genre – the game's lighting effects."

Now read the red part again, Selnor. It doesn't say best graphics, "only" one of the best. Read more carefully!

Number is still 0 for me...

2012 - Top 3 [so far]

                                                                             #1                                       #2                                      #3

Come on.... let's leave Selnor alone with the whole "let's back up your prediction now" thing. I mean, you don't see me doing that.

"looks at my own sig"..... Oh, nevermind. ;)

Having said that, I never understood why people would say this game is the best visually, it looks good no doubt.

let's hope it can maintain at least a high 80 in Meta.

Soriku (Feb 10/08): In 5 years the PS3/360 will be dead.

LOL. At myself. LOL.

Reading through the reviews I have seen a very obvious trend.

Lighting and environments are either classed as the best or up there as the best. It seems what is stopping Alan Wake getting overall Graphics king is character models and animation.

I will point out that I find it strange many reviewers claim AW to be best lighting, onscreen action or environments over any other game. But just animation and character models being the only thing in another game to better Wake puts it top?

It would seem Remedy spent so much time making their lighting, environments and scale untouchable and forget to bring the character models up to date.

But I agree. I'm not gonna find the best graphics ever comments I was after. Plenty of best ever lighting, environments and scale comments. And plenty of best overall 360 graphics.
But no crunch comments guys.

And I'm very shocked that reviews giving AW 8 or less claiming it's better than any Silent Hill. What damn score did they give Silent Hill?

I see Alan Wake as being kinda like Uncharted: Drake's Fortune, they both have flaw's with the first release but then they fix everything in the second. Remedy could fix all of Alan Wake's flaws in the second game.

Bet with Conegamer and AussieGecko that the PS3 will have more exclusives in 2011 than the Wii or 360... or something.

Hmmm, what number is "many" to you? I've seen some praise for the lighting, but that's pretty much it. (unless "many" equals perhaps two or three?)

Not saying they didn't say it, but haven't seen these "many" reviews you're speaking of.
