MGS: Peace Walker development time revealed

Game development takes a lot of time and constant dedication from the development team. Kojima's team is among the best at this concept and has proven time and time again they can craft some amazing titles. Hideo Kojima has shared how long the development time of Peace Walker was for the PSP, and the timing may surprise you a bit, because it wasn't as long as you may have expected it to be.

Kojima states: "I want to reflect on this project’s schedule. I had PW’s plot design a couple years back but, we officially started the project August 2008. Then in September we had a project get-away. In December we got the details narrowed down for the project and the MGS4 staff came back to the studio safely after their long vacation. The story concept was solidified in March and narrowed down to a script in June. Then voice recording started the following month. In reality, the development period was only one year."

Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker just received a perfect score from Japanese magazine Famitsu and it'll see release in North America in the coming months. Dubbed as Metal Gear Solid 5 by Kojima several times, it sounds like he had the concept for the game written and ready for a long while. Hopefully, he did the same work with upcoming console Metal Gear release, Metal Gear Solid: Rising.

Good point It's just that I haven't heard of such a high profile game being made in only 1 year since Majora's Mask

How did I forget Insomniac

It's a PSP game; that's a lot less work for the art department.

I can't really comment on the programming side of development, but presumably it builds off the Portable Ops engine and was being handled by the same programming team.

For a big game like Peace Walker, the big advantage of developing it for the PSP is the quicker turnaround time. Good for MG fans since it means less waiting between games. Not so good because you have to play it on a PSP.

Hey PSPs are awesome !!!

Bigger isn't always better and the portability has to be taken into account. Myself being a student I don't have enough time to be playing hours at home. The PSP also happens to be huge in Japan, bigger than the PS3.

thats pretty short. but then its kojima so he probably manipulated time or something lol
