Forums - Nintendo - I got a Pokemon EV question!

know how they work. If you get 4 EVs from battling pokemon you get an extra point on that stat.

My question is why isnt my dragoneer a higher ev stat?

I gave him a power bracer (It ups attack EVs by 4)
And i only fight krabby (Witch give 1 attack ev)

So let's say I fight about 10 to get to another level.

I shouls be getting 50 EVs making the stat go up about 12.

but it's not working. it only goes up 3-4 at a time. His attack stat is 105 while his other stats are about50. His HP is 85...am I doing it right or wrong?

It really depends on your Dragonair's IV's, If it were to only gain 50 EV's for Attack before leveling up, it could go up by 13 (1 + 12 from the EV's), 14 (2 + 12 from EV's), etc.

it says its highly curious...is this normal to go up only about 3-4 every time?

o and this pokemon was traded from a friend...does this matter?

That's also rather curious since this Dragonair was from a friend, it may or may not have quite a few EV's already put into other stats.  Your Dragonair should have its Attack going up but there is a 510 EV limit to consider(He may have put anywhere from 1-510 EV's on this Dragonair that you don't know about).  Best case scenario, It's fairly low and you should be able to remove EV's with a few berries such as Kelpsy and such.

That would have been nice to know earlier.

Anyway, your Dragonair should get those EV boosts later.  They tend to grow at their own pace sometimes.

EV's and IV's are more reflective when you're at level 100.  There are maximum's you can be at lvl 50 and so but lvl 100 is where both really show.

ok my friend says that you have to be at the last evolution of the pokemon your trainer to see the evs...is that true?

You don't have to be at the last evolution - you could keep them unevolved until level 100 and get the full benefit of your EVs - but of course, you won't get Dragonite stats on a Dragonair, because Dragonite is stronger.

Your EVs might not completely show until Level 100, though. Every pokemon with the effort ribbon will always reach their stat potential (depending on EVs and hidden IVs, ie, chance) by level 100, but you might not get consistent patterns of growth until then. Often the stats just seem to come together between level 90 and 100 and hey presto, you have a decent pokemon (unless you really ballsed up your EVs or you just got shocking luck).
