The appearance of Time Lincoln explains the otherwise inexplicable resurrection of this ancient thread. I take it you guys missed the part where it turned into a full-on elimination game featuring a long list of developers. That's what you get for joining the site two years too late! ;)
Hates Nomura. Tagged: GooseGaws - <--- Has better taste in games than you. |

Miyamoto is a creative genius... He can invent games from basically anything. and his inspiration comes from things no one else would have thought of. I really respect him for that and hoping he'll be still creating games for a long time. ^_^

if Mario didnt save the industry Sonic would have. |
A few things.
Sonic's existence is owed to Mario since Sonic was created to compete with Mario. Mario ibntroduced Mascots and was a huge success.
Donkey Kong was created by Miyamoto
So were Zelda, Mario, and coutnless Franchises were created by this guy. You don't have to like his games but as a developer he is hte most influentual of all time. It is like Citizen Kane...I feel the movie was crap and overrated but there is no doubt of its influence despite Renoir's superior works. However I also happen to like Miyamato's stuff.
Also A Sunday New York Times profile published in May 2008 called Miyamoto "the world's most famous and influential video-game designer".
It is a universal sentiment not just shared by a few fanboys on the net but by most of the peers in his industry and the media that reports it. He is also the only person on the list that could be recognized by a non gamer. a Status rare for the industry.

My point isn't that the first game people play is a Miyamoto game. My point is that Miyamoto saved Nintendo, which brought back console gaming. If making games capable of saving an industry doesn't make you a great developer, I don't know what does. |
But Starfox WAS a Miyamoto game.
