I saw the 160 GB version bundled with Uncharted for the price of $299 (checks charts) nope still in 3rd..
And to whomever said it will finish in a distant 3rd, it depends on how long until MS releases its next console and at what price point, the leap in graphics I do not think will be as big to the next gen as it was to this gen...
Or start calling the PS3 the Wii2
Unicorns ARE real - They are just fat, grey and called Rhinos

Stop being supply constrained. That's the main issue at the moment.

agreed, they need to change the image and advertise.
needs to break the stigma of the semi-underground and become cool again.
for example when was the last time they mentioned PS3 on South Park?

Wii has a lock on this gen. It's the system that has captured the popular consciousness like PS2 the gen before. There's no point in hoping for PS3 to consistently sell Wii-like numbers, which it would need to do to have a hope of at least overhauling the 360 gap. An good performance for the rest of this gen for PS3 in Americas (or more specifically USA) is to sell on par or slightly above 360 on average.
All PS3 can do in the Americas is hold the line to maintain sufficient momentum and proximity to 360 to successfully launch the next generation. Don't go hoping for anything more than that.
PS3 had a crappy start to the generation and had to desperately play a catch up game. Sony clawed it's way back to a sustainable position in the home console market and is sitting very comfortably now. Be happy that you didn't buy a white elephant that dropped out of the market with very few decent games only a few years after launch. It's what the doom merchants were predicting, and I reckon it got pretty close. The Playstation brand is on the road to redemption (if only PSP would do its bit too) but it's not going to fall and rise all in a single generation.

Sony should stop advertising in Japan the 360 is no threat at all there so why not spend that extra money and try to pick up sales in Europe or NA. Microsoft pays for ads or name drops in hundreds of hollywood products.
It's always about software. PS3 needs titles that will become social phenomena in the west. Along with an advertising campaign to make sure the west is aware of said phenomena. Sadly these are two things that Sony doesn't do too well.
don't no.
a killer ip should do it
they already have ip's that nobody else has, but i think they should approach games and advertising differently.
They could drop it to $99 before I find the value of it worth it to get. I got my PS2 for $80 with KH1. A device has to fit a want price range. If it's not selling like hot cakes then people don't want it for that price. Why don't as many people want it for the price it is now, because they have a PS2 that already fits the needs. $99 is a great price incentive.
Squilliam: On Vgcharts its a commonly accepted practice to twist the bounds of plausibility in order to support your argument or agenda so I think its pretty cool that this gives me the precedent to say whatever I damn well please.
