Activision did this with MW2 and look how successful that game was. Also i saw like 2 splinter cell ads on TNT yesterday during the playoffs. I think Mass Effect 2 also did this during the NFL playoffs. |
Activision did alot more than just NBA playoffs

Maybe if Sony developed a Blue Ocean Strategy and positioned the PS3 in ways that people anywhere wouldn't expect, that would bring new people to it, that could do it. If you keep bringing out the same old stuff, don't expect things to change. Maybe getting a few exclusive killer apps for Move, combined with 3D might do it. |
yeah i have seen saying that, what if they do motion controls with 3d.That would actually just blow the industry away cause if will be a whole new thing
Here is a simple concept add a bundled game and bam sales will increase guarantee. Suggestion is Ratchet and Clank TOD
They need to establish strong English speaking PSN community :). So 360 user will think twice before paying for XBL.

Ok so more games that cater to the same audience that bought Uncharted or God Of War? Ok guys it's quite obvious that that wouldn't help much since the majority of that audience have the console or bought it on launch of those games. God of war wasn't the massive hit that most people on this site predicted it to be, and to me Uncharted is the better game of the 2 and sold more systems than God Of War. What we need is a game that has production values as high as Metal gear solid 4, since if i remember correctly, the sales of that game were pretty huge and the hype was also a lot. I'm not sure which game could push PS3's at the level that some Wii exclusives have done (NSMBWii) but really it's up to Sony. Their problem is that they haven't caught much of their PS one and PS 2 audience this time around, which I think was their own fault for advertising the PS3 as a multi-media player instead of a game machine. Big mistake.

Some exclusive 5M+ selling shooters wouldn't hurt, but its hard to see that coming out now that they have already released several shooter franchises which have failed to cross this mark. Move might help, though it depends on whether people see it as compelling and whether Sony can actually differentiate it from the Wii + provide compelling and unique software for it. 3D gaming wouldn't hurt, however the PS3 isn't powerful enough for every game to enable it and the adoption will be slowed by a lack of 3D ready TVs in the market so its likely to be a slow burn and likely not noticeable in the weekly sales if it takes off at all. |
microsoft have one other than halo.
if u mean third person shooters, only halo did in america, neither gears or gears 2 sold more than 5 million in america.
if you mean worldwide MSG4, Resistance, got over 3 million, and MAG and Socom 4 on their way.
sony is beaten on price theres nothing they can do, wii and 360 are cheaper albiet perceived cheaper.
what sony needs to do is sell fairly well, untill they can further reduce costs.
if one day they can get a ps3 to $249 with move contollers chucked in, it would bat the wii

this but have at least 2 different games at a time so people that don't want a "kiddie game" like Ratchet and Clank TOD have another option God of War 3 would be a good counterpoint and if they want more sales from different gamers FFVIII, Uncharted 2 and MAG would be good options. Obviously Gran Turismo 5 would be added to the list at launch.

Microsoft has a large lead + even larger lead with multiplayer gamers. Thats a pretty big USP all to itself.
Resistance is over 3M but thats bundled and Sony's best in Killzone 2 is bested by Left 4 Dead or Microsofts third rate shooter series. In a market where the shooter is king, you can't be king if your best is bested by the competitions third best.
Tease.
