Forums - Gaming - So, I was playing this one game and I realized how low gaming has become...

11 hours in one place is a bit much, I like me some long games but I would probably get bored. Unless there are a whole bunch of good items and heavy experience monsters to keep me interested.

So what is this 11 hour dungeon game?

A game you beat once before useally never takes long to beat it again, if I would play a 60 hour RPG for the 2nd time I could finish it in 25~~

Fallout 3, FFXIII, Valkyria Chronicles, Demon Soul's Mass Effect 2, Oblivion, Dragon Age, GTA4, Lost Odyssey And JRPG's I don't like (Resonance of Fate, Blue Dragon)

are all 30-80 hours even more Okay, Mass Effects 2 Pushing it unless you make sure you do everything. (but its so damn good it doesn't matter)

JRPG's have always been long, What New Gen RPG have you played that's short? I can think of one Mass Effect, and that was dissapointing... I haven't played every game tho

Fire Emblem is probably longer than all of those put together :P. In my first playthrough, I clocked up near on 100 hours. And this is not included the time spent getting halfway through a battle and losing (or rage quitting) which is a lot of time on account of the ludicrous difficulty.

good games nowadays can be played for longer than good games from previous generations

On my Wii, the total playtime for Wii Sports + Brawl + Mario Kart is well over 1000 hours.

OP fails, I've spent 50+ hours on Oblivion and 20+ on Fallout 3 and Final Fantasy XIII. I'm not even close to halfway done with those listed.

I spent 300 hours on Oblivion, including Shivering Isles, and still felt unsatisfied. The dungeons were nice but too short. The boss fights were also meh.

But man, this one game I've been playing had 11 hours in just one dungeon. It took so long...

And a dungeon that only takes an hour or two hours is just short and boring. I'd prefer dungeons that are around 7 hours and with epic storyline fights, those are the most fun.

Like Dragon Quest or SMT Nocturne and sometimes even Tales of.

The game I was playing was Digital Devil Saga 1. And holy hell, is the final dungeon a complete repetitive mess. Really brought the game down for me. I much preferred Nocturne's style of Dungeons.

This game felt like crappy Persona games combined with the True SMT series (of which only actually have 4 games in their name, Nocturne being the third installment).

That wasn't my point. You said most RPGs today take 11 hours, I was simply proving you wrong.

Most Rpgs THIS gen. And you only used three examples.

Your counter argument... is kinda moot, dude.. >_>;

Again, what RPG's are you talking about?

I guess you've said one now that is 11 hours...that's most?

Mostly action RPGs like Heavenly Sword, DMC4, Assassin's Creed, etc.

Most new rpgs on handhelds are also just 10 hours like Crisis Core, Tales of the World: RM, KH 358/2.

Well there's your problem. Gosh, it's like you're complaining that your ice cream is cold. Get your SRPG on, or turn based at the very least

Did you just call Heavely Sword, DMC4, and Assassin's Creed RPGs

Wait, let me guess

Ninja Gaiden, Bayonetta, and God Hand are RPGs too

Excuse me I think my head is exploding

Nah actually not at all, game development has just become more streamlined is all. I would rather play a 10 hour campaign in a game that is full of awesome set pieces and great gameplay than just sit there and grind in a dungeon for 11 hours. To me thats just a waste of time I have other things to do than just sit there wasting time on a huge slow dungeon.

Even sports and fighting games nowadays have more RPG elements than these "Action RPGs"

Surprisingly nobody calls them SRPGs or FRPGs.
