I'm sorry for your loss, as an animal lover myself I know how it feels, my 17 year old cat died last summer, I litteraly hadn't known life without that cat, I still expect her to be sitting in her chair, and when I go to my mom's house I half expect her to jump on my while I'm sleeping...

He had hip dysplasia, 15% of German Shepherds get it and large dogs in general.

It was really hard for him to get up and you can tell he was starting to have a hard time breathing.
