Forums - Gaming - Infinity Ward insider says the studio is “dead”

A source close to Infinity Ward has told Kotaku that the developer as we know it is “dead” and “will continue to crumble”.

Speaking with the site anonymously, the source claims that the resent wave of walkouts along with the formation of Respawn studios by Jason West and Frank Zampella is scaring the shit out of Activision.

“They’re scared shitless,” revealed the source. “They never saw this coming. They can’t believe what’s going on. At first they gave us some bullshit about moving up payments of all the money they owe us to sooner increments.

“That was when [designer] Todd [Alderman] and [engineer] Frank [Gigliotti] left. But with the announcement of Respawn and all the people leaving, they just got there heads in their hands.”

“They fired the two most amazing leaders we’ve ever seen, and then shafted us all out of a lot of money that was promised to us…there is nothing they can do to gain our trust or respect. And I’m pretty sure they know it now.

A dozen IW employees have already left Activison, and the source says that numbers at the under-100-person operation could drop more.

To counter this, Activision has pulled folks from other studios to fill the vacant positions in hopes to start moving on Modern Warfare 3.

That won’t cut the mustard, according to the source.

“IW as you know it is dead…and it will continue to crumble,” it was suggested. “There are a lot more veterans who are definitely going to leave.”

Bravo...Activision

Bobby Kotick needs to suck the life out of things in order to survive...

He lives another day.

This isn't really surprising to hear, given the consistent barrage of news of people leaving, and it looks like it's only picking up steam.

Bah!

I'd like to see Bobby Knotick playing Modern Warfare 2. Just for the laugh.

I bet he camps all the damn time

I mean, this whole situation is stupid... I don't like the Modern Warfare Games at all.

But you have a modern warfare franchise the second one selling roughly 20 million ( I think right like with PC)

I'd think if you were Activision you'd do everything in your power to get the momentum going...

because even, Halo, Final Fantasy, Zelda Have not come close to single game sales

I don't know how many gamers read onlines sites.. Like maybe all they need to do is call it MW3, I dunno. and they'll purchase it.

And West and Zampella even if they make a good game, it doesn't necessarily mean good sales for them, not sure how it works with their contracts.

But it's terrible whether it was Activision, or insubordination. It was still terrible bussiness for Activision to let this happen

Poor kid who made this video... every day he has to make a new one..

Well, at least the reception lady is still working at Infinity Ward.. those are the true engine of any company!

Face the future.. Gamecenter ID: nikkom_nl (oh no he didn't!!)
