Two UK soldiers died in Afghanistan. Allow me to be the one to be crass and wonder if that will effect the election.

anymore than all the other soldiers who died?

Well... yeah.

I mean heck.  Obama's Offshore Drilling plans are going down the tubes due to that big oil spill that has happened.  It's not like we haven't had Oil spills before.

Voters can be short sighted and sensationalist when big events hit right before an election... because there isn't enough time to process.

Voters tend to be short sighted and sensationalist.   The minute something goes bad?  Voters want out.

most people I know and most of the voters in Polls are opposed to us being in Afghanistan anyway, including myself.

NONE of the 3 main parties are opposed to the War...theyve all been in favor of it since it began

Not even the "Liberal" Democrats, eh?

If the places were switched, I don't think it'd be the same.  Seems like an easy way to win votes too.

not even them, lol, it is somewhat strange because, as you mention, it would probably be more of a vote winner than something that would put people off.

I think something like 70% of britons want the troops home in 12 months or so.  Heck the only reason more Americans want troops there instead of gone is because we feel guilty for messing the place up in the first place.

The Liberal Democrats were against it in the first place, but they want to continue the war now until it's over. I don't know how you would determine when it's over or not though.

Apparently if you want Gordon Brown to be in power you MUST vote LibDems. Today two labour MPS urged voters to back Clegg in order to guaranteee a hung parliament and more importantly a Tory free one.

Also today a Labour MP described Gordon Brown as being the "worst PM ever"

I don't like how people all of a sudden liked nick clegg because of his good debates. You should be voting for the policies, not the leader...

This is the last yougov poll, until the election.

Con 35% (+2 since 2005)
Lab 28% (-8)
Lib Dem 28 (+5)
Others 9 (+1)

There is more stats and a write up in the link.

It looks like theres going to be a hung parliament.

Is someone going to make an official thread for the election tomorrow?

Or are we using this to discuss it?
