Forums - Gaming - There is no reason for Splinter Cell Conviction to stay exclusive

I think Ubisoft will be shooting themselves in the foot if they don't port this over to PS3.

The game is great, a lot better than I thought it would be. And while its cool that 360 owners got firs dibs on this title...there really isn't anything about it that limits it to the 360 as a console or its userbase.

Its not a system seller that MS would want to secure, its not a visual powerhouse which can't be ported to a console easily, its not a game which requires a function of XBL or will only appeal to the 360 crowd...etc

The only reason why older splinter cell games sold better on Xbox is because the PS2 versions sucked since the system couldn't handle them very well. Those times are gone...

In any case, I hope Ubisoft ports this game to PS3 soon and that everyone can experience this kick ass game. I finally got my copy today and don't have to go over to my buddies place to play it like I did for the last 2 days... :)

Hey, here is an idea.  How about I cross out Splinter Cell Conviction, in the subject header, and replace it with Metal Gear Solid 4, and also make the needed tweaks to turn it into an old "PLEASE MGS4 on the 360... PLEASE!" message?

The current Ubisoft strategy is slowly killing the franchise...

Unlike Kojima who saw the light and decided the next console Metal Gear would also be on the 360, right?

It's has timed exclusive written all over it

What meta it got?

No late ports please unless going to add something worthwhiel to the game to improve it from the 360 version.

I thought Sony demanded additions if it got a late port? So if Ubisoft DID move this game to the PS3, I'm guessing they'll be adding some premium content to it.

The difference is that Splinter Cell and Conviction do not play in the same court......

MGS is a very powerfull franchise and brand name and Sony went all out on the exclusivity thingy and marketing...

Splinter Cell isn't there yet and did not get the same coverage/marketing....

The lukewarm reception the game got due to bugs isn't going to help it out too if it gets a late PS3 port...

if you go for an exclusive you better make sure it is very polished and receives very high critical and fan acclaim.

The mess following Conviction release just doesn't help Ubisoft at all...

PS3-Xbox360 gap : 1.5 millions and going up in PS3 favor !

PS3-Wii gap : 20 millions and going down !

Unless the media agrees its AAA, its not worth talking about or something?

In any case, the main reason for why this should be ported is because this SC game is much more approachable than any previous. It has somewhat of a mass market appeal...and it will spread a good word for the franchise. I am almost certain that 90% of people picking this up will like it...

The game is basically 1/3 Splinter cell, 1/3 Uncahrted and 1/3 Max payne.

What are you talking about? The game may have had a freezing bug when it launched but that is being fixed if its not fixed already...that won't damage the brand any more or less than manditory installs every 30 mins did for MGS4.

I find this to be the best Splinter Cell ever made. And I haven't even started coop which is the best part apparently...

I'm not saying the freezing bug is widespread  but  the fix and then the fix for the fix doesn't look very professional( delete your system cache...)

And the bug( or glitch, however you decide to call it) has been reported a lot on the web, making many people aware of it, that is definitly not the press you want for an exclusive game...
