Forums - Nintendo - Is Eternal Darkness a long game?

It's been lurking in my backlog for quite some time now, and I feel like working away more of my backlog (been on a roll lately), but I don't really feel like playing through a long game right now... In fact, I'd mostly just want to play through a very short game, but I'm assuming this isn't it. Regardless, about how long would you say Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem is?

15-20 hours for one playthrough depending on how terrified certain things make you, and how much time you spend taking in the sights.

If you're quick you can probably beat it in as little as 10.

Before reading Khuutra's reply I was going to say 10-20 hours.

I suggest playing the game with zero sanity at all times, or else you really miss out on what the game is really all about. This will make your game longer, but very entertaining.

If you drop a PS3 right on top of a Wii, it would definitely defeat it. Not so sure about the Xbox360. - mancandy

I have been spoiled on virtually all effects of zero sanity, though, so sadly the surprise factor is already gone :/

I recommend against this, if only becauase it will make the sanity effects seem passe.

A better option might be to limit yourself to the sanity recovered from killing enemies, rather than using magic to recover it. If you must, you can also use some special sanity-recovering items.

It really will enhance the experience.

There is no emoticon sufficient to express my disappointment.

Also each chapter is like a self-contained story of its own so it's a very easy game to pick up and play for a while and then come back to again a bit later.

The game is awesome, but the sanity meeter is flawed in that it was too easy to maintain it.

I've beaten the game without using sanity recovering magic and you almost never run out of sanity. I intentially drop myself to 0, and then play through and on occasion it rises up due to me killing zombies, but then I'll let it drop back down to 0.

Well I decided to say 15 hours before I read other people's replies, so I agree with what's already been stated. That's for a single playthrough.

And yeah, I played through without the use of the sanity regaining spell or using any items to regain sanity, but I did use killing blows to restore some.

Well hitting rock bottom is more of a distraction than anything else. It's the subtler stuff that will really mess with you.
