 You can not judge someone by their country bad statistics. Imagine with we made cynical remarks about  middle eastern users beating woman or americans being bloody thirst bastards crazy for war (I remember one remark like that in another thread).

OK so it was claimed that Brazillians generally do not buy games. And then in your next reply you said, you only buy 20% of your games (and rent the others). So whats the misunderstanding? I mean I guess your whole post is "why should we pay for these games" when you, actually, were never planning on "paying for the crappy Ubisoft game" in the first place, aside from paying someone $5 to rent it.

"Despite Brazil’s enormous potential, piracy and high tax rates frighten many who fear they will lose their money. A recent worldwide study by International Data Corp. and the Business Software Alliance showed Brazil is one of the countries where piracy takes its highest toll. According to the study, 61% of all software used in Brazil is pirated, and the annual losses reach an incredible $519 million. That ranks Brazil eleventh worldwide, in terms of losses from piracy. The condition of the video-game sector is even more critical: 9 out of every 10 games sold in Brazil are illegal."

Of course its pretty irrelevant, but still, there you are.

And for the record, I liked Red Steel.

Jeez; that half-sideways horse was creepy as hell. It looked like something out of Silent Hill.

"'Casual games' are something the 'Game Industry' invented to explain away the Wii success instead of actually listening or looking at what Nintendo did. There is no 'casual strategy' from Nintendo. 'Accessible strategy', yes, but ‘casual gamers’ is just the 'Game Industry''s polite way of saying what they feel: 'retarded gamers'."

Don't be an idiot, renting a game is still paying for it...

IMO the only truly great game Ubisoft has made in the last decade is Beyond Good & Evil which was tragically underrated.

Still, for the 4 hours or so that I played the rental of AC I had fun with it. It certainly had it's problems and wouldn't be breaking into the 9s for me score wise but I didn't encounter any major bugs and the movement/climbing was so awesome that the game was worth renting at least just for the experience of leaping around town.

rayman 2, and prince of persia: sands of time say hi :)

Well Sands of Time wasn't as good as Beyond Good & Evil.  I also will always hold a grudge against that game because basically what happened was Ubisoft produced both games at the same time and decided to only advertise one. They picked Sands of Time, and basically killed BG&E as a result.

However, Rayman 2 was awesome, and I regret not mentioning it.  The original Splinter Cell was pretty great too.  So I guess they manage to push out maybe 2 great games per generation.  Not exactly great, but I suppose there are worse developers out there.

So? That kind of cancels out his point... ItsaMii didn't say "buy", but "pay".

@z64dan

really nice post with actual stats and figures. all of these smug anti american posters on this site really piss me off. they should worry about their own theiving countries before they attack the usa who produces most of the movies, video games out there being pirated
