Forums - Website Topics - What if you had to own a game to rate it?

I'm not fine with it Montana....I think the rankings are useless, that's all.

Why do you care?

 @RolStoppable: Lol

I definately support not being able to vote once a game is released. Actually, I'd like the ability to go in and delete votes. I realize that it would mean some games would be higher than others (games in which we deleted the ones vs games we hadn't gotten around to yet) but it would sure help.

I'm a mod, come to me if there's mod'n to do.

Chrizum is the best thing to happen to the internet, Period.

Serves me right for challenging his sales predictions!

Bet with dsisister44: Red Steel 2 will sell 1 million within it's first 365 days of sales.

Then how would I abuse the system with my biased and uninformed opinions?

bingo

ive seen it on 360 and ps3, seen it where COD for 360 was 1 and ps3 was a 10

seen it where ps3 AC was a 4 and 360 was a 6 or so.

Its rather rediculas shows where this site stands.

not this again....

bring in the fanboys.

Well it's not games on Nintendo platforms, so you're fine with it.

But for the rest of us, it's quite an annoyance.

You know why this is a irrefutable argument? Because MS fans and Sony fans can not lower each other scores. Only Nintendo fans are allowed to vote on all platforms. Let`s not forget about timeless classic for Snes with ratings around 7. These silly fanboys from Nintendo can not even do their work right and downgrade their own games.

If they can lie about their rating (since people are poorly rating an unreleased game) they can lie about owning it as well. Just face it, the site is teeming with shameless Nintendrones/Sony haters that believe their opinions are more valuable than actual facts.

...

Right.  Anyway, you miss the point.  If you have to put it as a game you own... it's pretty easy to call someone on it, since if they have a bunch of PS3's games on there "Buy it now" and say they'd never buy a PS3, or have a bunch of wii games listed yet say it's only for kiddies...

It's fairly easy to pick out who the idiots doing it are.

I've seen it happen on Nintendo games as well.  Just the Nintendo games end up getting "self corrected" after a while.  Truthfully almost all the games do.

The reason I noticed was because I saw it under "most popular" games... which I didn't know had to do with comments, and i thought had to do with votes.

Honestly I expected it to have close to a perfect 10 without almost any info on the game as the same thing happened with Lair before the reviews were even out.

Either way, it'd leave a track to peoples BS... and even if you multi-accounted it would take a LOT of effort to make any meaningful change... and these accounts would be easy to track and destroy.

Not the pefect solution... as you can play games you haven't rated... but since FF13 is already at a 4.7 something... if only the people who owned the game could rate it... things might not seem as fanboyish... or they will... but at least only positivly fanboyish and since games are split up by system now the only games you'd be hurting by giving a game fraudenlently high scores is the other games on the system.

I think it might be a good use for the new "I own this game" feature.

You're completely right. I wish that people couldn't vote on games until they're released.

good idea, but hard to implement.
