Forums - Sales - Nintendo Wii is top selling product on Black Friday, MS is second.

I don't know what ioi thinks, but it seems to me that it will be very hard to get accurate figures this week, with all stores selling out of many products and all... Maybe it won't affect hardware numbers much, but software should be very hard to track!

this is funny becuase there was exactly 0 wiis at 2 different targets, 2 different wal-marts, best buy, toysrus, and 2 kmarts. The only places in my area that had wiis was gamestop and software etc. Gamestop had 15 and software etc had 16, that's a total of 31 in my whole area for that day.

currently playing: Skyward Sword, Mario Sunshine, Xenoblade Chronicles X

i love nintendo and all but i'd a bit sceptical of this. like johnsobas said above me, i was out on black friday and i didn't see a single system for sale. maybe they just sold out early but i got the impression they had no stock to begin with.

Each Circuit City got 50 Wiis each. I figure each electronic store got roughly that. Amazon.com I think got like 5000. Both the PS3 and 360 sold out at CC too btw.

It seems that at some stores they sold out even before the stores were open (by handing vouchers to interested people).

My local WM started selling them Wednesday afternoon and people immediately started grabbing them (when I was there, they still hadn't hit the shelves - they were behind the register in the shipping box). If other stores followed suit than many of those BF Wii's may never have made it to BF.

i think people are still hoarding wii's like nobody's business. kind of artifically inflates demand as they are only buying them to flip for 40% over retail. here's a picture from a canadian deal forum i visit..

he's selling them for $500 canadian.

@ameratsu,

Just to be clear you aren't implying that is the only reason for high demand right? Technically speaking it is "a" reason but it flies in the face of basic economics to think it is a major reason. That kind of situation is only stable for a short period of time before actual supply would catch up with actual demand.

To Each Man, Responsibility

There are also numerous consumer surveys indicating that the Wii is the most desired product. I don't see how a few thousand in the reseller market changes that.
