Allegedly , it is doing GC graphics......that is definitely pushing insane graphics for a handheld.
Um OK? The PSP is pushing PS2 graphics and has been doing so since 2005
First of all the PSP is a PS1.5......it is no where close to the ps2.
And with that being said , the ps2 is no where near the gamecube in graphics.
first of all, you are very mis informed, as the CPU in the PSP is far superior to the one found in the PS2, and the PSP has more ram to work with, it is why the PSP can pull of this:
It is more powerful than the PS2, and the only thing that limits it is the UMD..The ps2 is as close to the GC as the GC is to the Wii in the graphic department, in other words they aren't too far apart.
No it is not "far superior" but it is a little better but it is limited and just so you know , the psp has enormous trouble emulating the N64 and has no chance (spec wise) to even emulate the PS2.....so that should answer that.
The bolded is as wrong as you have ever been , show me a game on the ps2 which competed with Wind waker RE4 etc.
Hell look at the two RE4 versions , the gamecube version absolutely desimates the ps2 version even with the ps2 having an advantage of releasing a year later
Does that look like two systems in the same league?
You know for one system to emulate another it generally has to at least 3 to 10 times as powerful. It's a miracle it's possible for the PSP to emulate the N64 at all.
Perhaps.....but then I could still throw in games such as SoTC and San Andreas as proof of how far the ps2 is compared to the psp.
N64 is the ONLY console of the fifth generation!!!

For cross-architecture, that's right, but the PSP is a MIPS CPU, as was the N64. Similar architectures require a lot less difference in performance in order to emulate.

Interesting I didn't realize that. Still there was even a Dreamcast emulator as proof of concept for PSP but it really ran like a picture slideshow something like 1 or 2 frames per second.

i knew you'd go to RE4 comparision , its not the PS2's fault RE4 was a crappy port!
having played a lot of the same games on both Gamecube and PS2 i'd say GC was a little bit better on the framerates side of things , but the games look exactly the same, the xbox on the other hand was a lot better looking than both of them.
I live for the burn...and the sting of pleasure... I live for the sword, the steel, and the gun...

Deffering arcitectures there. PSP once again is MIPS architecture, and I believe the GPU of the Dreamcast was PowerVR, hence why it requires so much more extra power in order to translate between architectures.
The PSP has really suffered because of the pressure Sony has been under this generation. Sony diverted a lot of resources to the PS3 and I wonder if they will even be able to launch a credible PSP2 when the time comes, especially if the 3DS takes the entirety of the pure gaming market and other PMPs like the iTouch and iPad take over the media playback + non gaming markets.
Sekishu said: PSP 2 is definitely not needed, the PSP just needs more quality games.
it has plenty of quality games, what hte PSP needs is people to get interested in it again..
And it needs quality games for that to happen......which it doesnt.
It has plenty of quality games, not having as many as the DS is not a bad thing, considering how many games the DS has that are good. And it has MGS Peacewalker, a new Monster Hunter, KH: BBS and others on the way. Just because it doesn't appeal to you doesn't mean it doesn't have quality.
Yes its future line up is looking good.....but can you honestly tell me the PSP has had a critically acclaimed since GOW:CoC and Crisis Core?
It is not my opinion as to the psp barely having any quality games , no psp game has been raved about since those 2.
I can honestly tell you the PSP has had amazing ip that have completely flopped because of lack of interest, and that is SONY's fault, that does not mean the platform does not get quality games.. the past year it HAD BETTER GAME releases than the DS in my opinion almost by far. Sadly gamers tend to ignore the platform because of w.e reason.
It does has some quality games, but the DS seriously has much more. I just bought an NDS recently because there was simply no game that interested me on the PSP, with the exception Monster Hunter 3 Portable.

I also feel there are way more shitty and crappy game on the DS than the PSP. The bottom line here is just that there are a lot more games released on the DS good and horrible ones.... :/
