radha dont buy into that. id say the 360 has already outsold the ps3 in america by 100k units so far this year. and the first few months the ps3 had the advantage of better games and still had moderate slim effect. the rest of the year is 360 time. it has better games, will get price cut, and maybe a slim version. i dont know if that will be enough to put the 360 on top of the ps3 in europe but america is sealed up untill early 2011.

The PS3 has been battling supply contraints on for the PS3 since the Slim version came out. Even to this day they are still having supply issues, at least in my area.


you are right about that. i think the supply constraints are almost over. now the ps3 should outsell the 360 by an average of 5 to 10k for about 2 months execpt when splintercell conviction and allen wake comes out. slim will were off more then  they sell about the same. then the 360 will probably cut there prices around augast. then its 360 on top of the ps3 untill early 2011 at least.

x1 will pass ps4 in USA, and UK.

OT: Friends, price, and a popluar genre (war games). The 360 has the advantage in all three areas. That's what America is chasing right now, and out of the HD consoles, the Xbox 360 is leading the pack. PS3 does have a strong presence here, nonethless, just not AS strong as the 360 or as it could have been.

They'll probably be neck and neck for a while but I expect the Fall to favor Microsoft heavily in America.

Its the only completely objective answer that could be given.  Anything else is speculative.  And also I was being a bit facetious too.

the main reasons i see were stated by disolitude and notorious a.i.g.

1. never heard much talk of the ps3 until gow3 came out. when i'm at school now i often
overhear ppl discussing ps3 games because they bought the ps3 for gow.

2. 360 came out earlier and at not such an outrageous price so the fanbase got a nice headstart.

3. a lot of friends have the 360 already (see #2). this was one of the main factors had i decided to pick up a 360 instead of a ps3.

4. finally and i think this is really important. ps3 bundles are non-existent (in canada anyway). you pay 300 bucks for a ps3 straight up. the 360 on the other hand is in permanent bundle-mode lol. you actually have a selection of different bundles to pick up, all of great value. luckily for me, i picked up a 300$ 160gb ps3 + infamous/killzone 2/uncharted bundle on boxing day @ futureshop

1. More people have 360s which = bigger online community which = more people will buy it because they want to play with the biggest audience
2. It is cheaper if you buy the arcade and will continue to always be cheaper as it will have a price drop in the near future.
3. Shooters are more popular in America and 360 has the better shooter library.

its cheap and it has bundles and ps3 is in a slight shortage but i think the real reason is americans want to support an american product even though it has a severely high failure rate (still to this day).

i bought one for a few games but ps3 and pc are my babies.

i think ps3 sells better in canada i really dont know many people that have a 360 but a crapload have wii and ps3

I keep hearing about these supply issues. I don't know where you guys live but I just walked into my local Best Buy and saw at least 10 PS3s on the shelves. It has nothing to do with supply constraints. I live in Indianapolis which is the 14th biggest city in the US.

Can you prove it still has a high failure rate? The only 360s I know that break are the older models. The new ones have been really reliable.
