Forums - Microsoft - what are your splinter cell impressions?

I think the game is pretty good. It's not GOTY, but it is pretty damn fun. I think this Splinter Cell brought in new people to the franchise. While this isn't like the traditional SC, it is a good game on its own. There are a few things that could have used some more polish, but it is still great.

The shortest, easiest, automated single player experience in my life. 4 hours 20 minutes on the normal setting. Repeating the same strategy over and over, they get in a group throw a frag because the AI too stupid to run away fast enough. Take a guy down, mark three, take another guy down, mark three and repeat.

How are you marking so many enemies without stealth kills?

Anyways, I've only played an hour or so of it but I love it so far.  I haven't played any of the previous ones so I'm completely lost on the story but it's a lot of fun.  so far it's about the best executed cover system I've played and it's just fun.  I like sneaking around, shooting the lights, and doing the predator stuff.  Yeah, you can see how the AI can be pretty stupid, but if you're trying to break a game you'll always find flaws.

I imagine there are peopel that are just too awesome for their own good and can finish it in 4-5 hours, but I'm going with the Gametrailers review and it will probably average most people 8 hours along with another 4-6 for the other modes.

I am loving the game. It seems like they are handing out upgrade points like candy.

The game is alot more action orientated then the old ones. There's no "alarms" that you have to avoid ( except one level where you must avoid detection until you blow up generators ) then its back to take a guy down, mark three and repeat. The story was really good but, the game lacks good detail, some cover issues, (it felt rushed) and little to no stealth (So fans of the older ones 1-3 don't expect much gameplay wise because its not the same splinter cell you know). Im so disappointed.

Based on the strategy you described it doesn't even seem like you were trying to be stealthy

I bought it yesterday on my way to work, I played last night for about 3.5 hours , and I have already just about beat the game, The game is ok yes you can pull off some fun moves, but its to automated, you just press a button and watch the console do all the work, overall I wish I did not buy this game, its to short, and just ok, no night vision goggles, and its even shorter then ODST. If I were you and I had not purchased it yet, I would hold off and Rent it, then buy used for 30 bucks, in a few weeks. I rate it a 7.5,

Because you don't get to. You get put in situations where its impossible to go stealth wise because the amount of enemies on screen. You take a group of four out and there's five more to see you do it and then it becomes a fire fight. The game was made to be a shoot em up, that why the mark and execution was made so can get through groups of enemies faster. Why go through stealthy when you can achieve the same result by blowing the place to hell?

I love the mix of action and stealth in this game. I am currently busy with deniable ops missions and than will do the coop campaign later with a friend. Those complaining about no stealth aren't even trying it is very easy to get stealth kills if you know what you're doing.

How our favorite systems are just like humans and sometimes have issues finding their special someone...

Xbox 360 wants to KinectPS3 wants to Move!  Why are both systems having such relationship problems?  The reason is they both become so infactuated with desire while watching the Wii as it waggles on by. They simply want what they can't have.

I agree with your last paragraph. Sometimes you have no choice, but to get detected. I'm to the flashback mission. I think it's a pretty good game, but my only complaint is that some parts make it impossible to go stealth. I had fun throwing enemies outside the window over and over. that never got old. That's how I beat one section in the mansion.lol I would give this game a 8/10.

alright the story is pretty fun but your going to beat it fast and your going to blow people away really easily( meaning its easy) if you have a friend playing with you then cooperative play is amazingly additive and i haven't tried out the online gameplay so i'll leave you hanging there
