Conservatives/Republicans are all about making the rich richer and keeping the poor people poor. Right wing parties only care about protecting the rich people and making them richer. Tax breaks for the rich/middle class. Punish the poor people with extreme measures.

Conservatives tend to have a God and hard work philosophy on life. Poor people are being punished by God because they are lazy and chose to be poor.

Conservative politics is a very narrow view of the world. Conservatives/Republicans often start wars which they can not win. Hello Vietnam, Iraq, Afghanistan wars and countless other wars started by right wing administrations.

Those are some pretty big generalisations. Especially when Labour, the supposed left-wing party have done more to make the poor poorer, have increased taxes on everyone, and have overseen an era of massive banker bonuses.

thats because Labour went to the right under Blair...they are not "left wing" in traditional terms anymore.

They didn't go right under blair... they've been going right for a LONG time.

The rise in authortism politcs is more disturbing to me.

What's amusing to me is that most american democrats end up on the "left" of the major british parties despite that america is supposed to be way more conservative then everywhere else.  I think that chart explains fairly well why i'd probably see myself voting for Liberal Democrats.  The UK politcal parties all look the same except the Liberal Dems are lse Authortarian.

Well that was kinda fun... never pictured myself as a left wing libertarian though.

Oh hey, coincidental... they just posed up new 2010 UK parties.

UKIP being so close to the conservatives has got to be likely to stir some people up.  It's funny how far apart they are from the BNP despite a lot of people calling them exactly the same.

BNP being the most leftwing economically probably doesn't sit well with Scifiboy.

I'd still probably vote Liberal Democrat or SNP if I lived in the UK.

Huh. That's pretty much spot on where I would put myself. It works.

Here's me, I've shifted a lot further right over the past year or so, it seems. I'm about the same liberty wise, though. I'm voting Conservative this election. However, I'm not a "party guy", and I'm voting based on what's going to be most important over the next 5 years for the country. This 5? Deficit reduction. Usually, I'd say that constitutional reform and EU integration are the most important, so I guess I'd be voting Lib Dems more frequently after this election.

According to that thing I should be voting Green.... WTF?!

I'd say you should look into the Green party, but with a name like that it's probably purely where you are for different reasons.

I like to take this test occasionally to see how i've shifted.

Even better shows why i'd vote Liberal Democrat over Conservative and Labor... if i was british
